    On Jun 11, 2001, I made the conscious decision to start a new life of my own and live on my own terms. I moved to Phoenix, Arizona by myself and began the scary but necessary decision to live truly alone for the first time in my life. I had shared apartments with roommates in college and also during a summer internship, but I have never really truly experienced living on my own.     On Jun 3, 2011, I underwent a procedure that has changed my life. I underwent eye surgery. No, not LASIK or PRK but ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens.) I basically have lens implants in my eyes and now see 20/20. I had been wearing glasses since I was 8 years old and contact lenses since I was about 22 and I've always been interested in correcting my vision other than undergoing corneal refractive surgery. For the record, I suffered from myopia (nearsightedness) and astigmatism. It wasn't until I got fitted for contact lenses that I found I had astigmatism, a condition I inherited from my father.
