I have coffee with God everyday
It's the truth, when I am done cleaning the barn and feeding the horses I stop and sit in the doorway of the feedroom and watch the new day begin as I sip my coffee. I am so blessed to live in the mountains. I get to start everyday marveling at the majesty of God and all he does. As I sit I see all tha activity around me, things most would miss. Bugs scurry across the ground, climb plants and buzz by. Critters of all kinds from field mice to deer scamper by in the trees and bushes. The ever present movement of air I call God's breath moves the needles of the amazing pine trees that cover my property. It is in this busy stillness of the morning I talk to God. I mean him no disrespect but I … [more]

This is a bit of a departure for me but I am writing this for a special friend hoping she might pass it along to the knothead guy in her life. But I am thinkin' it might be useful for a whole bunch a people. Now I'm gonna say this just once I AIN'T NO "DAWCTOR PHILLL" , that's the only warning and disclaimer your gonna get. I see a lot of whining going on about relationships and sexless marriages and all sorts of junk like that and well it just puts a burr under my saddle so I thought I would give you guys a bit of advice about dealing with the ladies, expect I will get a bunch of grief over it but hey I don't give a rat's patootie about that.. So go put on your Big Boy Pants and set a spell… [more]

  • The Meeting

    Posted on: June 13th, 2011 at 5:52PM

Been feeling a bit confused and really been stressed lately what with looking to move 1800 miles away and all. Sometimes I get to thinking it isn't the smartest thing I could be doin' getting a bit old to start over again. Then there are times I know it is the right thing after all God told me I needed to Take Me and my horse, Dash home to Texas. Still it is a big change!Anyway, I was walking behind the chutes the other day looking for the horse I drew to ride. I noticed I was a whole lot grayer than the rest of the cowboys there and my riggin' bag was a whole lot more beat up than theirs. Thinking about what my wife said when I told her I was going to ride, said I was a damn fool, told me I… [more]

  • Saved by a Firefighter

    Posted on: January 23rd, 2012 at 6:43PM

This past weekend I was saved by a firefighter and I sure am grateful. Me and the Wife were headed into town and it was raining real heavy and the wind was gusting up to 50 miles an hour. With the weather that bad I wasn't even sure why we were going to the store. Now we live in the mountains and the road to town is a typical twisting turning narrow country road ain't a lot of extra room when two cars are side by side. Well we been driving about 20 minutes when I see it, at first it is just a movement. Between the rain, the trees and the clouds it was pretty gray so I wasn't sure what I saw but I started slowing down and I focused on that small spot. There iin the middle of the road was one … [more]

Just want to sit and chat a spell if ya got the time. Yeah, I know you always have the time, don't know how ya do it. A whole universe full of critters all wanting your attention all the time and each and every one of us gets it too. Suspect there are days you would like to put all the  lines on hold.Sure is a pretty day, thanks for all the flowers.Don't know why but lately, well I been wondering how many pretty days I got left? AIn't nothing wrong with me least not that I know, and I ain't gonna ask ya. Just sorta looking back and well it dawned on me that the trail ahead is gonna be a tad shorter then the one I've already ridden. Just like those flowers in the meadow this bunch will die of… [more]
