    The subject of emotional fitness awakens a keen interest in me perhaps because I had so little of it growing up. Defensiveness, overreaction, insecurity, giving in then blowing up, low self esteem, over-identification had a way of sabotaging relationships.  When you're young burning bridges doesn't seem so devastating. As I grow older, however, resolving conflicts in a healthy manner is not a luxury but essential. Whenever conflict arises, I tend to go into a tailspin because of my heighten sensitivity.
