It was difficult choosing between the categories 'embarrassing' and 'family' here, but my dislike of my only child is a serious and heartachingly secrect embarrassment.  I'm a 55 year old woman with a 23 year old son who has caused me little but grief and frustration since he became an adult.  I've read books on 'toxic people' and he fits the bill exactly...narcissistic, cruel (not physically, though), selfish and believes the world revolves around him and him alone.  He is a loathesome listener, in fact he has no patience for anything other than his own opinions, thus does not even hear what you have to say.It is truly maddening to 'love' someone you dislike, particularly your own child.… [more]
