The Darkness Within Depression is more than feeling sorry for yourself. It is a debilatating disease. I have battled with depression for many years...when it hits me worst, I stop eating, I stop taking care of myself,… [more]

Healthy Choice I quit smoking two years ago. I was hypnotized. I am not sure it was the result of hypnosis, more will power. I had quit before, for several years, but started up again in a period of depression. … [more]
Green Thumb I have worked in a garden since I was 8 years old. My folks had a big back yard in the country, we would plant a variety of vegetables and berries every year. The best was picking buckets of raspber… [more]
ThankfulI am sick, tired, sore, and smell a bit like a skunk because I helped my mom clean my former cat who got sprayed by a skunk, but I had a great weekend. I shared some good times with some good friends, played a bit of hockey with some success, but the true source of my elation is derived from children. I visited the Jamaican family and their aboriginal foster kids who used to be my neighbours this weekend after a long bike ride, and was greeted with hugs and jubilation from the children I had not seen in months. I used to take them on bike rides, to the basketball courts, to the zoo, to the beach, etc. It was really moving to see their reaction to me, even though it had been months since we h… [more]
BlessedI am about to buy my first house. I have been a drifter most of my life, like the Pearl Jam song. Scattered and often tattered, sometimes building, sometimes doing nothing at all. I found a home in a working class neighbourhood, rougher than my country roots. Blessed by a European lady going to retirement in a convent in the province of Quebec. She told me if she was smarter she would have wrote a story. The house has a built in bookshelf. I am excited at the possibility of seeing my old oak bankers desk, that my brother helped me rescue from the Salvation Army. It led me to university, to Nova Scotia, where it guided me and became the source of touching love letters sent through the posta… [more]
There are places I remember in my lifeI tried to quit EP recently, but was encourage to stay by the staff, saying that my contributions were important. I don't think they are. I have tried to make a character on here, who is real, somewhat damaged, somewhat frail, but still hopeful. That person is me, in reality.I used to enjoy Experience Project. I miss the days when I would write creative, passionate stories with Jennifer, trying to make a connection across the screens. We talked about everything, our homes, ambitions, friends, even considered meeting romantically. But I told her that I could never fall for just a pair of breasts, that I was not that shallow. I asked to see her face, she declined. I asked to write love … [more]
Worthy?I was volunteering at a Festival this weekend, when I had the opportunity to work with this kind lady from the Congo who spoke French like me. After only a short conversation, she promptly asks me for my number and e-mail so that I could meet her daughter to marry her. I am shocked, but in a honoured way. Only the night before I was at the Sudanese Centre for a Valentine's Day social, an event where I made a good impression, especially with my ability to take care of children. I have waited all my life for someone to find me worthy to marry and sow the seeds that could bring a family. Only in Quebec did someone ever say I should move there to marry a Quebec woman, on the bus, while I watched… [more]
