Actually… The new girlfriend is taking me to the Dominican Republic in 5 days :D

I'm a big, friendly, outgoing guy who loves to give flowers to strangers and call it a hobby. Love my bicycle and being on the water or in the woods.

I did something I've wanted to do for a while now!
I went and gave flowers to a retirement home! I got my income tax return yesterday and went and bought 5 dozen roses to give to each of the five floors of a retirement home in this city. It felt good to see some of the older ladies smile and one of the nurses gave me a hug. This is what I call a good day!… [more]

    The last time for Christmas!
I know people will give me that same old line "It's better to give than to receive!" But you know who says that? The "receivers", that's who! I went overboard again this Christmas and gave gifts to all my nieces and nephews, but I didn't stop there. I also gave away 10 of my framed photos of the Northern Lights to my siblings, both sets of parents and one aunt and one uncle. In return I received 2 gifts this year. The photos alone cost $100 for print and frame, but I've been selling them for $150 so the cost there is $1000 plus approximately $700 on the kids. Now, I know that's not what it's supposed to be about, but c'mon man, some kind of return would have been nice! The reasoning they all… [more]

In 1987 the school I was going to went on a joint field trip to see a Shakespeare play, King Lear.  One day this busload of students stopped at our campus and they all piled into the school to sleep in one of the classrooms.  The next day our two buses were all loaded up and ready to go west to Regina.  The teacher on our bus said "We have 2 too many students so two of you will have to ride with the other school!"  After a few minutes of nobody volunteering, I stood up and said "Hey, a chance to meet new people! I'll go!"  My buddy Cory said "... I'll follow the big guy anywhere!" and he came with!   When I got on the other bus the first thing I noticed were these amazingly beautiful gre… [more]

One of the most memorable flowers I have ever given away was while walking home after a successful summer afternoon of giving them away.  I was walking down a sidewalk and looked ahead to see this woman wearing a beautiful flowing sundress.  She had a wide brim hat and sandals.  I don't remember what she looked like but I'll never forget her smile as she looked at me.  She had a glint in her eye that I have become all too familiar with.  I knew she was looking at the last rose I was carrying.  I stopped a few feet from her and she smiled as I asked "Would you like a flower?"  Her response was what stuck with me as she said "What about the woman you bought it for?"  I said "But I bought it fo… [more]

  • Start of a hobby...

    Posted on: February 27th, 2011 at 8:54AM

I went to University of Manitoba in the late from 96-98 and made quite a few friends in my time there.  I didn't care for school really so I went back to work.  The thing I liked about school was the things you could do for people.  The first year I was there I heard that an organization was going to bring inner-city youth to the school for a tour so I went and used up the last of my meal tickets for the term and bought them pizza.  Knowing that they were actually younger than youth, between 6-9 year olds, I dressed up in my Santa outfit to deliver them. The second year I was there I got stranded in the residence because my income tax return was late.  I was broke at school for a week but g… [more]
