Our pool is pretty private, and our family has become used to bathing topless and sometimes nude. One day my 17 year old daughter and I were laying out topless, and I decided that the pool bottom needed to be vacuumed. In the middle of doing so, topless of course, my 16 year old son came home with his girlfriend and two other couples he hangs out with, and asked if it was ok if they all hung out and swam. My top was at the other end of the pool, so I had few choices. Rather than make a scene or act embarassed, I took the nonchalant approach and said OK, especially since my daughter, who knew several of the kids, was very cool about it, and greeted them without covering up. She seemed very comfortable with the situation, so I decided to go with the flow. I knew that topfreedom wasn't that rare around the neighborhood, and that my son had seen his friends and at least one other mom topless at their pool.

It seemed pretty strange, and i felt quite nervous. Two of the three girls who came in with my son were going topless, so I finished the cleaning, and with a lump in my throat started gathering up the hoses and putting them back on the rack on the wall. My son and one of the other guys pitched in to help. They were very cool about it, no staring or anything, so I just accepted their help and we finished up.

I laid out with them all for another half hour or so. I thought I'd be making a beeline for my to so I could put it back on as soon as I could, but I thought, what the heck, and just kept it off. It just felt so natural and, surprisingly given the age group of the kids, innocent.

Later on, my husband was furious with my "wanton behaviour" and wondered how I'd ever be able to face those kids or the parents socially in the future. We know some of the parents and see them sometimes. I convinced him that everything was cool and there'd be no problem, especially when I told him which of the moms was known to keep her top off when she had visitors too.

Since then, we've had several similar experiences, one with my husband around, and once at a neighbor's when we were over for an informal get-together. It now seems very natural, and I have no problem seeing or being seen by visitors. One neighbor can see us, but only from a certain part of his yard, as he recently discovered, and he and we all cool with it. He seems to have a little more work in that part of the yard than last year, but he's not goofy about it. I found I actually kind of like being seen topless, just because it does seem so natural. A lot depends on the situation, though. If a neighbor was pulling out binoculars on me, I don't think I'd take that very well.

I lay out completely nude all the time at our house. My daughter goes topless when my son or husband isn't around and it's just us. I know my son looks at me, so what? It's flattering. Think I'd rather him be downloading ****? He's probably doing that too.
