I'm in love with my prom date.

That doesn't really sound like it'd be weird, does it?

But he doesn't know it.  We've never dated, or anything.  We've just been sort-of friends for the past 6 years or so (only because we were both in the Gifted Program).  He's well-liked and sort of popular, and I'm sooo not.  I'm overweight, and not really attractive (doesn't help that I don't really bother with makeup), and I'm a total nerd.  I have no clue why he would EVER ask me of all people to prom.  He can also be kind of a jerk, and I kinda think it's a pity date.  It started when we were in Physics, and he asked me if I was going to prom.  I said no, of course, because I was dead-set against it and not planning on going.  So he asked me if I was at least going to after prom.  I said no again...  Has he not noticed I NEVER go to dances or parties or anything?  Then he told me he really wanted to ask this girl to prom (he never told me who).  A couple of weeks later, he asked me to prom, and I told him no and asked him about his plans to ask that girl.  He said he didn't want to ask her until I'd told him yes.  Anyway, he kept asking me and I kept turning him down until eventually another friend of mine guilted me (she glared at me alll hour) into saying yes.  He seemed so shocked...

I really don't want to go to prom though.  I'm hoping I come down with some sort of fatal disease before then.

I also REALLY hope the girl he wanted to ask wasn't me.

I'm not worth him.
