Do you have a child? Because it happened to me when I was breastfeeding.

It happened to me when I was pregnant... I was only about 5 weeks when it started. I would go see a doctor though. Good luck!!

I'd moisturize with a fragrance-free lotion, and switch to maybe Aveeno body wash and a gentle, dye and fragrance-free laundry detergent. If it's still bothering you in a week or so, take a pregnancy test! and also visit your doctor. Just like hae, mine were insanely sore when I was pregnant. And they are always dry... so are my boobs so I use cocoa butter and mango lotion. None of that bath&bodyworks crap with all the scents.

Please go see the doctor, you might be pregnant or something worse. If I were you I would get a mammogram. I don't want to scare you but even if you are young there is still a chance that your symptoms could point to something more serious. It is best to go to a doctor and get it checked out as soon as possible. If you don't have insurance please research "free breast mammograms".

Seriously? It's just dry skin. Get some lotion. I really think seeing a doc would be overkill unless the lotion didn't work.

    Hi,
This symptom is more common than you might think. I've read that mothers who are new to nursing experience dry, sensitive nipples due to the newness of having so much contact given them. It is nice to know the condition passes in time as the nipples become used to being suckled by the infant. There are moisturizers that a doctor can prescribe to help with the healing process that are also safe to use while nursing.

I used to experience dryness and tenderness when I lived in a region that had cold, dry winters. I found my nipples reacted to this dry air even more when I went bra-less and had the constant rubbing of the material of my blouse against my nipples. I used a moisturizing lotion and wore a bra for protection until they felt better. Hope this helps.

same thing happened to me. i had just started working out again and it was from the sports bra rubbing my nipples. i just put some lotion on them after a shower and it was no big deal.
