This year I wasn't too excited about what Xmas had to offer - problems within my family coupled with a few other things.

Every year I have Xmas Eve at my house and have both my direct and indirect family over for dinner and gift exchange.  This year, however, was supposed to be held at my older brothers' house.  Unfortunately, him and his fiancee split up so the onus to host fell back on me.  That really threw a wrench in my plans because I don't have any floors in my dining room at the moment because I picked up the tiles two months ago and haven't had time to finish them.

On Dec 22nd, I opted to go buy a tree.  *Note - never go buy a tree after say Dec 15th because you will find dumpy tiny trees that not even the workers would take home*  I set up the tree at home and it looked very tiny sitting next to my rather large television.  After putting the lights on the tree, stacked with loads of ornaments, I sat back and looked in awe - this damn tree looks fantastic!  Much better than I would have imagined!

I'm very grateful - not only for how the tree turned out, but for my family and friends who consistently manage not to disappoint me.  I wish everyone were so lucky.

I hope you had a very safe Christmas and I wish all of you the best in 2011!
