Or, I should say, "outwrestled by a woman", although she looked like a girl.
One of my odd, aberrant behaviors is that I like to do mixed wrestling. For the uninitiated, this means when a male wrestles a woman. And, yes, it really is just wrestling, nothing illegal. At least for me. I am a slender male, physically fit but not very strong. I do it because I love the intensity of the experience, being matched against someone who is trying to control you. The role reversal of the woman trying to outwrestle the man also appeals to me.
I started on this with typical male arrogance, not believing that a woman - even a big, strong, woman - could beat me, a male. I soon found out that I was wrong, as in the first match the woman outweighed me be 15 pounds, was far stronger than me, and easily wiped up the floor with me. However, that wasn’t the most embarrassing situation. Faced with the reality of being helpless at a woman’s hands I accepted that some athletic women really were more powerful than me, and most other men, and so I came to terms with losing to them.
Since then I have had 11 more matches and I have lost all of them. Even though I was losing consistently, I enjoyed the experience and I was okay with it. For the first 10 matches all of the ladies were impressive, athletic women with big, strong muscles. The last match, though, was the most embarrassing. I was matched against a little slip of a lady, about 5' 4" and weighing in at only about 120 pounds tops. She looked like a teenager, although she was actually a mom in her 20's. She was in good shape, but nothing awesome to look at in terms of athletics. Just a reasonably fit, lean young woman, cute to look at.. She could have been anybody you past on the street, or see working the cash register at the supermarket, waiting tables, or working in an office. Anybody.
As I said I am slender and not strong, but I was bigger than her by a fair amount. We arm wrestled before we started really wrestling and I beat her pretty easily.
So, I thought, "Finally, someone I can overpower." Well, I had the ultimate lesson in humility. That lady had the moves, the speed, and the aggressiveness she needed. She thoroughly kicked my @$$, tying me up in knots, immobilizing me with leg scissors or headlocks, twisting my arms behind my back, etc. She also made me beg for mercy if I wanted to be released from a hold, laughing at me and making sarcastic remarks at what a wuss I was the whole time. It was good natured fun and I still enjoyed it, but it was thoroughly embarrassing to have such an ordinary sized and normal looking young mom defeat me so easily.
I have come full circle on this. Having started out believing that a woman can’t beat a man, I now believe that any woman, properly trained, can beat just about any untrained male. Me, at least, for sure. LOL.
