I cut myself with razor blades sometimes! I get some sort of twisted relief from it when nothing else relieves my inner torment! The release of blood feels like I am somehow letting the demon of my innermost self out!

I used to cut myself. It does help. But its not healthy. I say thatif you cut yourself your asking for attention. If you want to die do something else. If you want attention cut yourself.

Unlike the person above me, I do not agree that cutting is always asking for attention. I used to cut and the last thing I ever wanted was attention for it. I thought it was a terrible person who deserved pain and I only felt relief from the guilt if I WAS in pain. I didn't want anybody to know because I was afraid that they would try to prevent me from it. But I agree that it is not healthy. It was really, really hard for me to stop cutting...but I've been out of it for 2 years now, and life is a lot better. *hugs*

I used to do the same thing but I cut myself for the pain and blood..and no its not always for attention..I say that because I put mine in places no one could see my thighs are covered and so are my ribs..I HAD to stop when I started dating my fiance because they thought I did it only to release what I was feeling. It was a bad addiction for me. Lifes is better without it but I still get "cravings" for it.

Cutting, slashing burning is a release, it releases endorphines in your brain in the same way that addictions start. At first it is a rush and peace comes over you, but you can never get that same kind of release the next time, so you have to cut over and over again. You get relief but it is short lived. Even in "recovery" in other words not doing it, your brain remembers the endorphine release and peaceful (not really peaceful but chemically induced peace) So staying free from it is a constant comittment. But some illnesses can bring out the urge to self harm, independant of any reasoned thoughts of why you are doing it.

i believe that you're addicted, cuttings very addictive. i've done it before... its just like any other addiction. it's better if you get help before it's to late. if you dont want help then you still can stop. just cut less deep until you can stop.

I understand, I've been dealing with it too and its tough. I think mine revolves more around an affinity for blood, but its still a problem and it is really tough. I'm seeing a psych and it does help.

I would cut my leg on the left calf and it would feel so good after. I have not cut in 2 months, but I feel craves for my blade. I try keep it off my mind and just bite my hand.
