The problem with love is that if you are betrayed often enough, you find you have less of yourself able to give to that noble investment. The problem becomes that the next time around you expect betrayal and suffering and when it isn't meted out to you - you are almost disappointed so you'll go to great lengths to commit multiple sins to ensure that you are cut off and left in pain again. You become the ultimate masochist devoted to repeating patterns that bring about a calculated painful reaction. Or you go the reverse and set out to be a sadist devoted to telling people what they want to hear only to rip them to shreds later via your own distinct brand of treachery.
