Ignorance! kids thinking having kids will solve all their problems  playing video games all day and worshiping people like Justin Beiber I'm sick of talking to younger people about more complex topics only to get a deer in the headlights look from them READ A BOOK!

Have a lazy parent issue. I have a roommate that is 40 years old and her 9 year old son, but SHE puts him in front of a tv to play games n stuff. She has a 17 yr old to and he visits every other weekend, well now she is letting him sleep with his girlfriend and I was pissed that they were in bed together. I know it was hard on her to loose her high paying job, but she uses the 9 yr old as a reason to turn down jobs at walmart and the drugstore. She has been here for a year and just plays on the computer all day. Her kid is always asking to go play or go to the library, but she's always to sick. Its child abuse in my opinion. I am 27 with a limited income. I can't keep putting up with her crap.

yeah wow I feel really bad for that 9 year old kid being blamed for things that isn't his fault and isn't allowed to do normal kid things because of a disengaged parent

Yeah its pretty sad what playing too many video games has done to alot of teens brains isn't it? Your right if you even ask them a basic question like "who's the Prime Minister"? Let alone ask who is on the opposition? You get such a blank look, that its scary!

Could it be because in this age of technology, they are used to Googling everything? And not using their own brain!

Alot of parents could do better with their parenting skills that's for sure. Using the tV or video games as a baby sitter is just not on, people. Otherwise people are bringing up a generation of morons, reliant for all their answers from technology and have no analytical thinking skills of their own?

Don't let this happen parents? I didn't with my 2 girls, so how about you take responsibility for the kids you have brought into the world, ok!

yeah I strongly agree with age of technology being a problem the answers are just given instead of people having to figure them out and too many bad parents raising bad parents a vicious cycle

People want to take on the responsibility for the heck of it ....without evaluating the level of effort .....& when the time comes....they look for an easy way out , a convenient way to ease the problem.

Teacher and preacher both should ensure that they don't start cheating people on the cost of their derailed value system and self indulgence.

Reading now falls under the heading of Dirty Words. Children are not reading and there is no one to insist!

My first son told me I made them read and write about the book they read. He said he hated every moment ... today he is thanking me. Both sons are avid readers and very conversant!!

Lol that's true but not every kid is like that. :)

I wasn't that kind of kid and I know plenty who aren't.

But it still has gotten out of hand definitely.
