It goes without saying that my once firm and unshakable belief in morality has been breached. The question is how do I determine what it means in the new framework of my life.

It sounds like you've had something happen to shake your belief system.

When this happens we ask " well what is real? What's useful? What works?"

Your faith and belief in one moral system (given to you by parents/religious group etc) is being shaped / modified a bit / replaced by another that you are constructing for yourself. In a modern individualistic society this is the work of each of us: to grow up and form our own belief system that works for us.

    Good fortune.
