I get so annoyed by the smallest details that I think I drive myself insane sometimes. One of the things that I find so annoying is when people misspell a word or use the wrong words to try to convey what they are trying to get across. I know we all make mistakes but am I really the only person who spell checks whatever they are writing or typing before they send it off? I think when people misspell words it makes them look bad and I think I automatically correct them in my head and judge them a tiny bit for not taking the time to double check their work. I have a hard time taking people seriously when they can't even seriously spell something. I always think "are they from a town where spelling and punctuation isn't taught?" and "is English their second language?"
Does this make me a "know it all" or just some uptight *****? All I know is that it bothers me. If I read something with a lot of errors I'm likely to not even finish reading it because if it's misspelled a lot then the piece is likely to be doomed.
Am I alone with this pet peeve?

Haha, you're not alone! I am the same way! 9/10 times I will go back and reread and spell check my stuff before I post it. And after I've posted it, like a day or two later, I'll go back and read it again and make sure there weren't any mistakes, and if there were, then I'll change them. It bugs me too when people have really bad spelling and are hardly talking in English. I give grace to people who are a different first language speaker than English, because at least they are usually trying to speak good English. But other people who just don't care or are too lazy to bother to write with good English, they bug me too. I just wish people would take a little more pride in their stuff! But I'm probably like you, in the minority category about this. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks good spelling/grammar is important!
