As I was shaving my head today for my spring/summer cut, I was reminiscing to a time 16 years before today when I talked 20 people into shaving their heads completely bald.  There was me, 14 other guys and 5 gals at university who did this act.  I talked to them at dinner one day and quite easily convinced them that it would be a good idea to shave our heads completely bald.  It wasn't for me that I got this campaign going, it was for a good friend of mine and one of the HR's.  You see HR Chris's daughter had cancer.  Notice I said "had" she's now 20 and living a healthy and free life.  Well when she was 4 she had cancer and the chemotherapy caused her to lose all of her hair.  Her dad said he felt bad about it but raised his children a specific way and when it came time to eat at the university cafeteria, told her she had to take her hat off.  When I saw how sad and self conscious she was I knew something had to be done.  That night I got 20 people together at dinner and shared my plan with them.  It was a real good turn-out and at dinner the next day when that little girl had to take her hat off, she noticed there was a bunch of other people who had hats on at not only our table but 3 other tables around us.  She looked at her dad and said "But how come they can wear their hats?"  Her dad said "But I'm not their dad!"  I looked at her and smiled and said "Ok, just for you, I'll take my hat off.  You should have seen that little girl's eyes light up when she saw that my head was smoother and more bald than her own.  She couldn't help laugh when the rest of our crew took off their hats and stood around her table all 20 of us.  She was laughing hysterically as we each put our hat in the middle of our table, a pile of hats on the table and a bunch of bald people standing around her.  Her dad was in tears and thanked us repeatedly. I still get a tears in my eyes thinking of what her reaction was when we did that and how happy and comfortable she was.  Some of us kept our heads shaved until her hair grew back.  She was a really strong little girl when I knew her, I know she's still around but I didn't get the chance to see her grow up after I left university the following year.  I'm just glad I got to know her and to see what true strength was.

I'll also never forget when she came up to me at the dinner table approximately a year after that.  She came to me and told me she wanted me to know first.  I knew her dad knew what she was talking about but he said after him and her mom, I was the first to find out.  She smiled at me and said "Today I got my last poke!"  Her dad told me that they went for one last needle and found out the cancer was completely gone from her system.

That's what I was thinking of when I shaved my head today!

What a long story, did u spend a lot of your time writing it?It was so good, but what about the campaign your hub is hosting, the one thts called frans clan..But has more hair on his nuts then the hair he hides by balding it all. He is so cool cause now he says he's growing it out.bet itd look cool hope it's still not falling out?(bet he wish he could sport a foehawk) My daughter on the other hand has so much hair she can pass for a unibrow.guess she got my genes somehow, only thing is she did'nt get my genes when it comes to being so so chubby.they say she has cancer in her thyroid gland. So that means whats sad is that she'll always be fat. My concern is if shes a fat cow now I wonder what she'll look like when she gets older&has to host the campaign when her dad can't camgaign,Il just hide&be embarrsed of her& say hey this aint my daughter.
