OK. This is getting me really angry now. We're in the process of moving home. The new place came through a lot quicker than we expected and since we need to give a months notice at our current place we have both sets of keys with a month of overlap.
From experience of past moves I suggested that we use this time to make the move in a more leisurely manner. I'll get all the small stuff out of the way, bit by bit using the car, so that, by the time the big day comes, it's just a few large pieces to be transported. Yes this was MY idea.
The new place is in perfect decorative order but needed a few minor things doing to get it to our liking. So what have I done so far since getting the keys?
At the new place, I have fitted carpets throughout (all three bedrooms, landing, hallway and living room. I have also fitted new curtain rails and lamp shades to EVERY room.
I have run new plumbing and electrics for the washing machine. (it's going to be in a separate laundry room.) I have made the necessary modifications to the Kitchen to allow our range type cooker to fit in place when it gets delivered next week.
I have fitted the satalite dish and run all associated cabling.
At our old place I have moved the entire contents of my workshop to our lockup garage. (I'm going to have to wait for a shed to be built before I can get my boys toys back :( )
I have dismantled, moved, and reassembled all the wardrobes from this house to the new place. I have moved our beds, (currently using sofabed in living room)
I have also removed the bulk of our furniture to the new place and just this morning I moved a couple of desks and the dishwasher to the new place. (dishwasher now plumbed in at the new place)
I have also redecorated the bathroom, one of the bedrooms, and carried out all the minor repairs that needed doing in our old place.
All that is left to be moved from our old place is a couple of sofas, the TV, our PCs, my daughters Futon, the washing machine, tumble dryer, a few essential kitchen items and clothing.
I have done all of this single handed. My daughter is too bone idle to give a hand and my wife is next to useless due to arthritis.
I have also done all this without giving any complaint.
Yet when I decide to have a break and log onto EP, the wife is on my case because I'm not doing anything and we've got the removals lorry turning up Monday.
FFS What does a guy need to do to get a bit of credit around here!
