My sister just had a baby. I wasn't there, my parents were not there. And to be really honest this sounds bad I'm happy but a large part of me doesn't give a toss.

It's a weird emotion for me to deal with. If I were more close to my sister and lived close i'd be happier. I don't see anything wrong with not giving that much of a thought. Don't get me wrong I love children and am planning to work with them in a nursery in a few years time (placement for now).

I'm not a mean person I just don't feel too fussed over it, I only just learnt of the news.

If it helps I'm 18.

I just need advice.

No it's not bad for you to feel that way- especially as it is a baby and you haven't really had a chance to get attached to it yet. Spend some time with it and maybe it'll bring you closer to your sister,x

She lives all the way in London - far away from where I live so I can't really visit her for a few months. Thanks x

I have 3 sisters and they're all much older than me, so we only lived together when I was really small. We've never been very close, and they all have multiple children - and I wasn't there for any of their births. I honestly never even thought about it until now. Sometimes it's hard to figure out what normal sister behavior is for me, because we're not close like sisters. We all live 2 or more hours apart, and we just don't see each other very often. So basically, don't feel bad - it's up to you to gauge how you feel about them, and if the feelings aren't there about any given situation, there's no reason to force them.
