I have a deep understanding and compassion for people but I don't enjoy most peoples company

The title pretty much explains it. I am highly perceptive of people. I find that I can easily discern the mentality of an individual in a sympathetic kind of way. It's as though I expect people to feel the same when interacting with me. This often leads to me projecting my own behavior on people and opening myself to them only to be hurt by an obtuse response.

QUIZ: AM I AN EMPATH? Ask yourself: Have I been labeled as "too emotional" or overly sensitive? If a friend is distraught, do I start feeling it too? Are my feelings easily hurt? Am I emotionally drained by crowds, require time alone to revive? Do my nerves get frayed by noise, smells, or excessive talk? Do I prefer taking my own car places so that I can leave when I please? Do I overeat to cope with emotional stress? Am I afraid of becoming engulfed by intimate relationships? If you answer "yes" to one to three of these questions, you're at least part empath. Responding "yes" to more than three indicates that you've found your emotional type. Also know that empaths ARE and can BE either Introverted or extroverted. One has nothing to do with the other. I would also recommend that you take the personality quiz to find out what your strengths are. Google this: 16typequiz I'm ENFP by the way :) -
