Cops and Firemen

The Main Fire Station in the City I work is an old two story structure. It’s one of the few fire stations left in Southern California that still has the old fire poles in it. The poles are favorites of kids and are used by the firefighters to slide down for quick access to the equipment from the upstairs living quarters.

This station is located downtown and next to an old mechanic’s shop that is made completely of metal. Four metal walls and a metal roof. The fire station has a second floor balcony that looks out over the metal roofed shop.

The station is equipped with an ice maker that manufactures shaved ice. And the ice is great for making snowballs. Sometimes things get slow around the fire station.

It was late and slow that evening and I swear it wasn’t my idea! lol. Ok, well maybe a little bit. We made up a whole bunch of snowballs. Did I mention it was the middle of summer? And we stacked the snowballs out on the balcony that overlooked the metal building next door.

Next we tossed a couple of the nicely packed snowballs onto the roof of the adjacent metal building, causing it’s burglar alarm to activate. It was loud! And it also transmitted directly to the City’s Police Department‘s Dispatchers.

It was absolutely amazing to watch three black and white police cars come screaming up and surround the building with it’s ringing alarm. Lol.

But it was even more great to pelt the officers with the snowballs when they exited their cars…….Hmmm I wonder why cops and firemen don’t get along anymore? lmao
