|  I have very vivid dreams about my boyfriend when he's away on marines business. A few days after he left for combat training, I had a zombie apocalypse dream (not uncommon, as we both have these dreams a lot.)
It started with his friend and I driving to a grocery store late at night. There were police cars and security everywhere. Before we entered the store, we had to have our faces scanned to make sure that we weren't zombies. They had to put some kind of lotion on my face. I freaked out because I have very sensitive skin and I thought that it would mess with my test and they wouldn't let me in.
We got in, luckily. I was crying and having a panic attack. The boy with me kept trying to console me and kept saying, "It's okay, I'm here." But all I wanted him to do was go away and leave me alone. At this point, a zombie had gotten into the store and spit up this green liquid all over the kid's face, forcing him to be escorted out of the store because he had been infected. I don't know what happened to him after that, but I remember being relieved that he was gone.
Shortly after, I found my boyfriend. He was wearing civilian clothes and he was quite happy to see me. We sat and discussed the situation. He said that he had to go outside at sunrise and fight the zombies on the front line. At which point, he put on his cammies and went outside. I followed him without his knowing.
I hid behind a wall and had somehow gotten a revolver to defend myself. All of the Marines were in a perfect line, awaiting the ambush of zombies. I recall some of them getting very close to me and when I shot them, they didn't flinch. So, I ran into the nearby door and tried to keep it close. They didn't fight for very long, but I remember a young zombie boy speaking and saying that they would retreat for now and come back when we were more vulnerable. Everyone was shocked that these zombies were intelligent.
As soon as they were gone, I ran outside to find my boyfriend. Every Marine was laid on the ground as a corpse would be laid in a casket and they were now wearing service Charlies. Some were obviously dead, some were injured. My boyfriend had his eyes closed, so I rushed over to him in a panic, screaming his name.
He was still alive, but he was scared. I knelt down and held him while he cried and said that he didn't want to be a Marine anymore. I just remember trying to comfort him, but my words weren't working. He soon started singing "Not While I'm Around" from Sweeney Todd. When I tried to open my mouth and sing along with him, nothing came out.
