Let me begin by saying that my brother passed away over 10 months before the dream. We are not sure how or by whom (or by himself accidentally) he was shot. His death was quickly ruled as accidental suicide with little investigation. As for the drean; I cannot quite pinpoint exactly where the dream began, as it was a rather abrupt start. However, the earliest I remember in the dream, was walking through a corridor into a brightly lit hospital room, with sunshine yellow walls. My mom was already in the room. Turning to my left, I saw my brother, lying on a hospital bed (not covered, the bed was made of a red leather.) My mom walked over to my side of the bed, before I could actually see him. She put her hands on his shoulders and his heart rate rose from a flatline to being very rapid and he begin to shake (not a vigorously as if he were seizing) I exclaimed, "Mom, he knows you're here. He knows we're here." She moved back over to the other side of the room, without talking. I looked at him for the first time. He looked as though he was just resting peacefully. He wasn't dead to me, it seemed. Although he, in reality, had been shot in the head, he had a gaping hole in his stomach. It was filled with a gross bubbling substance. Once again, that sunshine yellow came into play, as the liquid in his wound was the color. It made me sick and I jokingly said, "Maybe I don't want to be a doctor one day after all." My mom looked an me and said something like, "It doesn't look that bad." But it did. I was astonished at her calmness. I moved to the foot of the bed and saw that one of his legs had been cut off. I turned away as tears filled my eyes. For some reason, it broke my heart to know that he would have to go on without this leg. The dream ended abruptly just as it began. But since then, I have been having dreams with the color yellow...most of them nightmares. What could this mean?

Yellow is the color associated with the part of our body where we feel our emotions.

We process our grief in our dreams.

Sounds like this is what is going on for you.

Best Regards,
Rose

Initially, I am sorry for your loss. it seems you have been going through stages of grief. Yellow is a color many people do not like because to them it signifies ambivalence and humans want concrete answers. There is a huge amount of ambiguity surrounding your brothers death that it makes sense that the dream 'facts' surrounding his death would be wrong, yet also imply that if he could only be resurrected and tell someone how it happened, it would give you the power to mitigate if he could be saved. The red bed, the missing leg, and the obnoxious yellow coming from the hole in the stomach are things you may need time to work through to figure out. A red bed may mean that on some level you've acknowledged his death, the lost limb may be sorrow for a life with potential cut short, and the misplacement of the wound with yellow coming out may be your own loathing of death.
