The dream start where i'm sitting in my bedroom, my bedroom looks exactly the same in the dream as it looked when i went to sleep. The light is off but door open and lots of light shine in from outside the room. I'm sitting on the edge of my bed with my current (living) dog next to me on the right hand side. I'm rubbing my hand over her head and down her back two or three times. Something makes me look out my bedroom door to the left and suddenly i feel something biting my hand between my thumb and index finger (my hand is open as if stroking a dog) I'm not sure whether the bight was a hard playful bite or a real attack type of bite. I looked back and saw another dog on the bed, this was the one biting me. My current dog, a brown staffie, is still sitting on the same spot calmly looking at me (the dog biting me is not my current dog, the second dog that appeared was one of 5 puppies i had recently but had to get rid of them as my landlord did not agree with me raising them, they were given to a pet shop, unsure of what happened afterwards with them.) I looked at the dog biting me and realised it is one of the 5 puppies, but the puppy seems to be going in and out of vision / reality, almost like a ghost appearing and disappearing again. As the dog bit me on the hand i closed my hand around it's small head, mouth still clamped onto my hand, and out of fear i lifted my right hand (with dog attached) and tried to reach for the light with the same hand. (i dont feel proud saying this, but the idea in the dream was to hit the light switch with the "ghost-dog's" head) As my hand reached the light switch i woke up, sitting up straight in my bed, sweating and heart racing. This is not the first time i had this type of dream, last time it happened twice i moved +- 1000 km's away from my home and left almost all friends and family behind (it was two dreams, both involving dead dogs or dogs that are currently alive, but dead in the dream, both dreams were different, but the same stuff inside, and everytime my bedroom is where the dream takes place, both times everything in my room is in exactly the same place as in the dream. It is so realistic the first two times i was left confused whether it was a real experience or a dream). What does this mean? why does it happen? what does it say about my future?

I am confused. You call this a dead dog, but describe it as a ghost dog. Do you know that the dog was dead?

Hi MorningAngel, the only reason why i say it is a dead dog is because it appears as a ghost and in the dream i somehow knew it was dead. I can't say how, i just had that feeling during the dream.

First, I am assuming as an adult that this is your current "adult" bed, not something related to the past (childhood). A bedroom in a dream usually signifies something you want to keep private, something intimate. Being in your own bed suggests a sense of security, and the light at the beginning of the dream emphasizes that. Although the room is in shadow, it is not entirely hidden. As is usual in dreams, there appears an additional metaphor of your security, the presence of your Staffie.

A dog bite can mean several things, but judging by all the other clues, I think this one suggests an inner conflict, most likely with respect to your sense of responsibility to or separation from the puppies that were given up.

The place on your hand that was bitten may either suggest you have not been able to "get a grip" on that or that you are "vulnerable" to the emotions produced by giving up the puppies.

Your desire to put more light on the situation and to smack the puppy's head are quite understandable. The feelings you have are uncomfortable, and you want to get rid of them, expose them to the light and, thus, rid yourself of the discomfort.

The previous dreams might have been indicative of that same separation anxiety, that time from family and friends. From your dream, I read you as a loyal and warm person, as the presence of your Staffie in the dream reveals. Understanding the source of your dream fears, you can confront and cope, and your dreams may gradually transform into more hopeful scenarios. Try keeping a dream journal to track your progress.

Good luck and blessings to you.
