I am standing on a cliff not knowing how i got there. I look up and see a man staring in the distance and somehow i know that he's going to jump off the cliff into the ocean below. i look down and i can see rocks jutting out of the crashing waves. he looks at me but i can't see his face and he keeps saying that he's a professional and i try to tell him not to jump but he jumps off the cliff. then all of a sudden i'm on a boat and we are looking for the man. when we find him he's dead and decayed for as long as what looks like months but i know it's been less than a week. the wierdest part is that after i woke up i wrote it down like i do every dream but i was talking to my friend a few days later and she showed me what she wrote down.. almost exactly what i wrote. what does this mean??

I love people who keep dream journals! First, your dream shifted. There is always a pattern to shifts, bringing the dreamer from the general to the specific, from an explanation to an application, from a broad time period to a specific time period, from the future or past to the present. A shift’s purpose is to bring the attention of the dreamer from the cause, the general, the outline or action, to the result, the specific, the consequence or ramification. There is always a from shift to. In your case it could have been from the past to the present. Without asking questions (read my profile) it’s impossible for me to get it right, but what I say may give you a nudge in the right direction.

You’re on the edge (verge) concerning a decision you are about make, possibly regarding your profession (job?). You were told not to jump but you did. You take the leap (plunge), it’s risky.

Shift

It has been less than a week but seems like ages ago. Your search has come to an end and it is now a dead issue.

You and your friend have a telepathic connection – not that uncommon.

Yes, as said by olguy, the man is you.
You staring in the distance means this job or venture is far from you, you can't see it well or up close. Or else the uncertainty as with any new thing, it's future is in the distance.

That is also why you can't see the man's face.

Obviously the rocks and waves represent how you can be hurt, like a death in fact, to you personally if you fail.

The reason you are split in two is because in this decision or issue you are split in two. Maybe the male is your more aggressive or assertive part. Maybe also you can't se his face because this part is not well known to you. You barely recognise it. Courage, maybe (no that's me, sorry).

I like olguy's take that profesional means it could be about a job. As an alternative. Could it mean that side knows what your're doing, or wants to believe that? That you can succeed?

You trying to tell him not to jump is your other, uncertain side saying don't go through with it.

So you take the plunge.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Then all of a sudden you're on a boat and we are looking for the man.
In later's safety, you see that venture has died, and the decay is so bad because I guess that indicates how long down the track it will be a dead situation.
Now, disregard almost everything I have said, probably, because this is a great instance which shows how one option for an interpretation can fit like a glove but be totally wrong. Let that be a lesson to me.
Because I just thought of something, because of one clue. What? Your title. And another thing or two.
This made you cry like crazy - everytime. It's recurring (I hope it means that). And your friend, like a twin, got this message because it was so affecting to you.
TAKE 1
Let's now take a gander at the dream thinking that man was your lover/boyfriend or such.
I am The Mentalist.
I am standing on a cliff not knowing how i got there. = This is surely the first clue! Idiot! Haha. You have no idea how your relationship got to this dire edge.
(The first thing dreams are about will be relationships, the first thing in life.)
I look up and see a man staring in the distance and somehow i know that he's going to jump off the cliff into the ocean below. = He is going to end the relationship.
i look down and i can see rocks jutting out of the crashing waves. = and kill it. (This also explains, like the first interpretation did more eloquently though wrong, why opposing cliffs.)
He looks at me but i can't see his face = You barely recognise someone when they want to break off with you.
And he keeps saying that he's a professional = He knows what he is doing and it's the best thing to do, I think. Maybe he's is experienced.
and i try to tell him not to jump but he jumps off the cliff. = You don't want him to leave, to die, to you. But he does. Aww.
Then all of a sudden i'm on a boat and we are looking for the man. when we find him he's dead and decayed for as long as what looks like months but i know it's been less than a week. = You of course still want the relationship to go on. Although it was just a week since he split up with you, it has been decaying for months.
Sorry.
It was quite a tissue dream.
Or... reading your background now, maybe that man did represent you, because of need.
