I have had the same dream twice now. I have had the same girlfriend for six years. We love each other and plan on getting married. She is my soulmate. However, I have dream that she dies. First, I need to give some background of myself and girlfriend. We are both from the same small town (we're talking under 400 people), and graduated at the same time. We are in our 2nd year of college (about 2 and 1/2 hours from home) , her's is about 20 miles away from mine. I want to be a vet, she wants to be a physical therapist. We are both ambitious, hard working, and love each other. So this is how my dream goes:
I find out that my girlfriend has been shot. Someone robbed her and her family in our small town (she lives out in the country) and shot them with a machine gun. I go to her funeral, but I can't cry. I get to the point of crying, but it just doesn't happen. It's not that I have never cried, ie after my last high school football game and when my dad got sick. But the few funerals I have actually been to recently, I didn't cry, nor did I cry at graduation. It's not that I'm insensitive, I do feel sad, but it just doesn't happen. Back to the dream: I feel empty and alone, like no one knows how I feel. I keep telling myself that she can't die and wishing for her to come back. I lock my in my room and only come out to go to class. (This is weird, because we are in my small town, and college is 2 and 1/2 hours away, but I still go to my regular college classes at college and when I leave the class, we are in my small town.)
I guess what I want to know, is why do have dreams about my girlfriend dying? And why can't I cry in my dreams and real life?
I have had other dreams where I saw one of the girls in our school commit suicide, and also one where I saw my little brother get ran over with a tractor, and I couldn't do anything about it. I was just watching, yelling at him, trying to get to him and move hime, but I couldn't.
I know that people can't control their dreams, and sometimes they are weird, but mine seem to be horrible nightmares.
