By DickStanley Aries Seemed Like A Lucid Death Dream (Death Dream) I dream often, but let me start off by saying that I classify a nightmare a little different than the average person. If I have a dream about zombies or about being chased by monsters etc... to me, that's not a nightmare, it's an exciting adventure. I love horror films and novels, paranormal investigating etc... so it's fantasy more than anything. I don't fear death at all, I completely believe in the afterlife. A nightmare to me, would be seeing my abusive stepfather in a dream... that sort of thing, that would take an emotional toll on me and I would hate it, waking up angry or in a sweat. Last night however... something strange occurred. I don't remember all the details, but here goes: I was dead, and there was no fantasy aspect to it, it didn't appear in any way, shape or form to be a dream. It felt as real as anything I've ever experienced. (I have had an OBE (out of body experience) one time before many, many years ago, but this was unlike that as well.) I knew I was dead, but I didn't know how I died, only that it must have happened while I was asleep. I was in a dream state, in that... my vision was not perfectly clear, I couldn't make anything out other than the greyness around me. I wasn't indoors. I wasn't outdoors. I was just lost in a haze. All I could think about was that I'll never get to see my mom again, my brother & sister, my friends etc... all the loose ends and things we take for granted. I very literally felt as though it was too late. This went on for several minutes, and was feeling very stressed, almost panic stricken-ed. It was so real that when I woke up in the middle of the night, I still thought I was dead. I remember thinking to myself... "If I'm dead, to me everything might still seem real, but to the rest of the world I'm no longer here, it's in my head." I went back to sleep. I awoke a couple other times during the night, having the same experience, saddened that I passed away, and when I finally did wake up for good, this morning, I still questioned if I was dead or alive. If I was dead, maybe I'm just going through the motions I did in my life. I actually had to call someone to verify that I was still alive. When my OBE happened years ago, as strange and as freaky as it was, I wanted it to happen again. The top and bottom of my vision was blurred, but the center was in focus and I could clearly tell that I was in my room. I was not afraid at all. This was very different.
