| In my dream I had just come from court where my family, me my mom dad sister and brother (all of us grown with our own families) had just won a case against some guy who was harassing the family business. When I got back to our business door I looked back and saw my 6 yo son up the street. At that moment a giant lava monster-man appeared(with all the thunder and lightning and earth splitting shaking accompanying a natural disaster ). I ended up separated from everyone and ran for the river in our town. Well after a heck of an urban city scramble, which involved going over thing and through wrecked buildings. I and Some vague other person I know ended up on a balcony. She yelled we couldn't make it when I grabbed her and we jumped. She screamed we were going to hit the rocks, but I knew we could , and did hit the water. Well the Missouri river is deep muddy and fast and dangerous so when I swam to the surface I yelled swim at an angle( only possible way you can survive the river and get across). I swam for the other shore and when I saw lots of other people had made it to the legs of the bridge I reached my hand out and grabbed the hand of one of them. They pulled me over to the giant concrete pier. There were lots of people in the river and I turned to watch the huge fire/disaster the had engulfed my hometown. I saw and grabbed my (8yo) daughter as she floated past. Then I saw and grabbed my mom and looked at her and said, where's my son? She had that vague look people get when they are in shock and looked right through me ( normal when dealing with someone in shock, they don't really see anyone or anything) and said not enough time. As I looked back at the town I realized she meant she hadn't had time to get to him. A feeling of despair and self recrimination only a parent can know filled me because I had left my child. I should have gone back for him! A few moments later I noticed a very familiar red coat floating by and realized it was my 6 yo son very dirty and soot smudged and very much in shock. I swam out and grabbed him as he floated by and got him over to mom and my daughter. I thanked god over and over as I cried for them. I knew my dad, sister and brother were probably dead, but kept telling my mom we didn't know. I never worried about the kids swimming the river I had taught them how to swim at an angle and not to fight the current.
I woke up then in tears, and with the firm belief that everyone else had died in the dream. |
