Terrifying And Recurring | Ghosts Dream Interpretations
Dreams can provide insight into our deepest thoughts. Using dream interpretation to explore dream symbols and uncover a dream's meaning can lead to a better understanding of ourselves.
So, I've been having this dream for the past, say, 6 months. On and off, sometimes 2-3 times a week, then suddenly it will disappear for a few weeks and come back. It comes in different forms, but, the one last night was much worse.
So the general layout of this dream i've been having is as follows:
I am alone, outside of a large, 3 story house. It's semi-dark, not quite night time. I move forward, into the house, and proceed to climb the staircase, until I reach the third floor balcony. I turn and look down a very long hallway, that goes clear to the other end of the house. There is a green fluorescent back light near the end, almost that of a 'under-the-cupboard-kitchen-light'. Once I look down the hallway, I am immediately confronted with a dark, ghostly shadow that moves across the hallway at the end of the house.
Sometimes It begins to walk towards me, and other times it simply stares at me. Other than calling it a dark shadow, I can't really describe it.
As soon as I see it, I turn and flee from the house. At this point, the dream repeats. It happens again, and again, and again. Sometimes this shadow figure it waiting on the stairs, or down a different hallway, or another part of the house. The dream is silent, and I hear nothing.
Last nights dream was much more personal. I was in a different house, under the same conditions, sitting in a chair and watching the doorway. Every few seconds a shadow figure of a short, stout man would appear, and then disappear.
Gradually, I moved from my chair and proceeded to move outside the room and down several flights of stairs. At the bottom, I came to a room with a fireplace along one wall and a picnic table in the middle. It became lighter now.
The figure kept reappearing in different places of the room, gradually becoming more defined until I could discern clothes and facial features.
I reached out to grab hold of this figure as it came closer. Suddenly, it became menacing and quite frightening. In a flash it was half an inch from my face, spewing lots of angry and violent talk, which I don't remember any details of. I asked this man if I could leave, to which he replied, to my best knowledge, "You can't. You are here forever."
Indeed, even as I tried to leave, I kept repeating this process of entering the room, sitting down at the table, and watching this shadow figure move. Each time, I would ask the same question, and receive the same response.
Gradually I began to get very scared that I would never leave. At this point, I picked up a knife, slashed at the shadow, and then bolted from the room. The rest of my dream, which only seemed like a few moments, I was running up the stairs, flights and flights until I woke up, out of breath and my heart racing.
Unfortunately, I can't remember anything else. Now that you have read my stories without any bias, I think I should mention two things.
First, it is interesting to note that I enjoy, sometimes, watching shows about the paranormal.
Secondly, this is the first time I have had this dream since moving into an apartment with a friend of mine. The previous tenant was into witchcraft, and lots of crazy spirit things. Ultimately, she shot herself in the driveway outside, a couple years ago, because "the stars have aligned and the voices told me to."
Since moving in, some weird things have happened. (knocking on closet doors and walls, items gently rocking when I enter a room after being absent, among other things.)
Really hope someone can give me a fresh perspective. Thanks.
Well, after reading over the layout of your dream a few times, and analyzing it a bit, I think I may be able to tell you what your recurring dream is about, or rather, why I believe you keep having it. Whether or not you believe in reincarnation and past lives is key with my interpretation, but since you didn't give any hint as to whether or not this dream takes place long ago, or in the present or if you're not really sure.
Usually when a person has a recurring dream for a period of time in there life about a certain event, or a certain person (the shadowy figure in this case) it is believed that in a past life a traumatic event happened during this time in that life (for instance if you were 22 years old and you began having a recurring nightmare of being kidnapped then it would be very likely that in a past life you were kidnapped at the age of 22 and your soul and mind are preparing your body for it to happen again, even though it wont your subconscious and soul don't realize that) although the shadowy figure in your dream doesn't seem to be doing much in the way to harm you, aside from the violent talk, but since the dream was different last night it's very possible that that will be the last time you will have it because that was the time in your past life where that traumatic experience ended. If that makes sense? I've read quite a bit on dream interpretations, as I've had my own fair share of strange, difficult to explain dreams >_<
Could you describe the figures you've been seeing in more detail? Are you still having this dream?
