House Upside Down? (My Childhood Dream)
Ever since I was 11, I have been having this reoccurring dream about a house I lived in when I was ages 3-9.

So in my dream I walk up to the house and onto the front step. I see the front door and noticed that its slightly ajar, but there's a light on inside. I walk through the door and notice that everything was decorated exactly how it was when I had lived there, except everything was flipped upside down. I then start to panic, thinking to myself "I need to fix this before my mom gets home." I'm running all through the bottom floor of this house, turning things upright, and I hear a noise upstairs, Like a baby crying. So I climb the stairs and I get to the top, and see a moving rocking horse in the hallway. I become panicked again, freaking out about not finding the baby. I then start to cry and its like a real emotional cry. While i'm crying, I hear a door slam downstairs, so I hide in the closet. I hear big foot steps walking up the stairs. I see the shadow right in front of the closet door and I hear the knob turning....and that's when I wake up. I have had this same exact dream for almost 9 years now, and everytime I wake up I have goosebumps and my eyes are wet from crying. I would like to know what it means and how I get my dream to to show more because I would like to figure out who is opening the door and where the baby is!

* Just a side note, if it helps. When I lived in the house, it was a very dark time for my family and I. My mother was on drugs and my father had just left. There were always random strangers in the house. But in my dream it shocks me to see that the house is lit up like its never been before. I don't know if that makes any difference.

That must have been a very scary time for you.

The lights are on in the house because you are facing these memories - bringing them to consciousness.

This takes a lot of courage on your part. You will notice the dreams improving in time.

Kindest Regards,
Rose

Recurring dreams refer to specific dream themes that form a repeating pattern, dealing with the same subject with each recurrence. They may represent a problem or issue that is not being dealt with or is going unrecognized. There are both long-term and short-term patterns. Long-term patterns sometimes occur on or near an anniversary of something that had a significant impact on the dreamer, whereas a short-term pattern usually concerns an issue that needs to be dealt with and in some cases, a warning. In both long and short-term patterns we find the same themes and the same types of symbols used in a repeating, steady stream. Their purpose is clear, to awaken or call attention to something of significance to the dreamer.

Your dream revolves around a time when you felt your life was turned upside down. It is telling you that you “need to fix this” issue, located at the bottom floor (subconscious mind). The baby, a budding, undeveloped higher aspect of yourself is crying for attention, but you will be unable to find it until you rectify the situation. You try to hide (not face) the issue which is quite heavy (big foot steps). Each time you are confronted with it in waking life (the door starts to open) you flee (wake up). You must determine the event(s) that trigger this recurring dream, and confront the situation, putting an end to it once and for all.
