|  Alright, so I'm at this festival, where I'm sharing a stall with two other girls (we're all children, maybe 10) selling random knicknacks. A lady comes by and drops this board game in fro of us, called something like "Rat in the House", & we open it to find it has a ton of mini, living rats all over the inside. The woman asks us if we want to play, but we're all really grossed/freaked out. he woman insists that we play, but I decide to just try to throw the came out in the trash. The woman says that the only way to kill the rats is to play the game & tat she'll teach us how. I still think we should just throw it out in a tied up trash bag, but th other girls convince me to just play the game.
At some piont durn that time, the stall turned into a full on tent (kinda like the ones used for circuses, but its not a circus tent. So the woman goes about telling us how evil rats are and that they need to be exterminated. She teaches us many different ways to kill them & has us fashion these paddles (like the ones used for glass blowing--long with a handle & made out of wood, used for blocking the blower from heat & for flattening. Not sure if that matters) & has us put jagged piont on the end for stabbing. All the while she's telling us how rats need to be killed. Part of me thinks this is all in the context of the game & that the rats are only play killed, but part of me also realizes that the paddle spikes are too big for the rats, let alone the rats in the game. Finally, our trailing comes close to the end and the woman gives us new identites--its the last part before we can start to play. As I look over the info she created for me and the other girls, it occuirs to me to make sure we aren't actually going to kill the rats (by this time its assumes tha rats are actually people/criminals). She says of course we are, we have to kill all of the rats. I say I can't do that & the other girls aree with me, this wasn't what we signed up for. The woman yells at us that we can't change our minds; we either kill rats or face punishment. She shows us her old team of rat killers & they look vacant & have rashes covering them. I'm scared, but I can't kill people so I still say no. The othe girls are even more scared, but they say no also. The woman says if we don't kill rats, we are rats. We say no and run.
Flash forward a few months (I think)--we've separatde to make us harder to find. I see one of the girls(its like I'm the wall), the one I didn't as well, in a room. The woman comes up behind her & runs ther through with the paddle, then beats her until she's dead. I flash to the second girl, who was my friend. Again, it's like I'm stuck to the wall. The girl is sitting in front of the mirror in what looks like a dressing room. I see the woman come up behind her, she slits the girls thoat, shallowly, & moves to drown her in bowl of water. At this point I couldn't take it any longer, so I altered the dream (I wasn't lucid dreaming, & I wasn't really aware except in the back of my mind that I was causing the change) so that some how the other girl survived (i think) & that the girl in front of me & I had set a trap to kill the woman. Because she had trained us, we knew what she would do. Some how we made it so that the girl could fake her throat being cut & then drowning while I lay in wait from my current vantage point. When the womans guard was down, thinking she had killed the girl, I jump down & started to drown her. Before she died, I realized that I couldn't kill her, even if she was evil. instead, I tied her up (she was unconcious) & called the cops.
Flash forward 10-ish years. I flash through all of the girls, including myself, as we put on disguises. We are terrified that she'll find us again, but we have to go to a trial or somthing & testify against her. The whole confrontation ordeal is going to be aired on some talk show. On the way to the prison yard, I walk down a path. As I go, the other girls join me. In the cement pavers, someone has etched all of the ways we had been trained to kill rats. Hundreds of sadistic ways to kill, most of which I don't actually read, & none I remember. Its that dream thing, where you just know what it is. I feel sick. At the prison, reporters swarm us and a man was talking over the speakers about how brave we had been, but all I feel is scared. At that point it occurs to be that her former rat killer's had been brain washed, thats why they had the rashes & were so...absent. I realized that, if we had stayed & killed, we would have turned out the same eventually. I wished I had just followed my intincts & thrown that stupid rat game out. The speaker man started to say something that was going to be important....but then I woke up. Thank goodness.
Just so you know, my dreams are rarely that gorey or gruesome. |
