Wolf. (Recurring Variances Dream)
There are usually two things remaing constant. The wolf (at least one) and the place (our ranch, though its bigger and everything is over exaggerated ie hills being steeper than in real life) it usually starts the same of myself in the ranch house. Sometimes it's at night. If that's the case then I'm usually alone or my family is there but they are asleep. The back door of the ranch house doesn't close all the way and we keep a chair there to get it shut. Usually the wolf is big. Like up to my chest big. (When I was a kid (I've been having this dream for roughly 15 years or so) the wolf would be giant) usually it attacks the front door and I'm using all my strength to keep it shut. It used to terrify me to the point of paralysis. But as I grew I was able to fight back. So he couldn't make it through the door despite sticking his head in and snapping at me. That's when he'd run off and break in through the back door. Then slowly stalk down the hall that led right for me. Once, again as a child, my dad fought him off. Usually he comes right for me and I can't call for help. He used to bite my arm and tear. I'd feel it and wake up. Now he lunges and tries to pin me down. I'm a marine now so in my dreams I make use of what I know and fight back. Usually ending as I kill it or he bites me in the throat and I rush awake in either outcome. The day dreams are worse. Usually people I know are there and they get scared. This is where the wolf either gets huge (elephant sized) or is a pack. Then they attack these people and we fight them off all night. As a kid I ran for cover and always got caught. As an adult I fight back even after everyone is dead. Sometimes we win. More often than not they hunt us down and save me for last despite everything I throw at them/him. Rage bullets tactics. Nothing works. I once hit the big one with my truck and he ripped off the door and threw me out. Once I wrested him with my bare hands. I went looking for him because I recognized the dream. I won that time I think. I felt triumphant. And finally the third variance is I'm in the ranch and already running from the pack. I'm in the woods by the swamp (it's where I hunt I know the land very well) and I either try to run and get eaten trying to climb a tree (more so when I was a kid) or I try to fight them or reason or buy time for whatever purpose. Anyways. These are the ones I ALWAYS lose in. Wake up and my insides are going crazy but I'm calm outside. Not even heavy breathing. Then if I don't actively do something when I'm jostled awake I go back to sleep and the dream is put on repeat. I know what's about to happen, I know what to do, I know in dreaming. And I still get maimed mauled beaten and probably killed in these dreams. Every other night. For 15 years. And I have no clue what any of it means.
