Dreams can provide insight into our deepest thoughts. Using dream interpretation to explore dream symbols and uncover a dream's meaning can lead to a better understanding of ourselves.
In the beginning part of this dream I was at my sister's house and there were kittens everywhere, really tiny ones. Then I found out that a lot of recent rains kept driving the snakes indoors. They began snacking on the kittens (coming up through the floor) as we tried to save them. I went downstairs to nip the problem in the bud and discovered just how huge the snake was and it wasn't the only one. After that I assume the kittens were saved.
A few people were trying to catch the snakes and throw them out, many were simply accepting their company. I was the only one trying to get away from the snakes inside, wanting them to be put outside and to stop them from getting in. There were all kinds of snakes in a variety of colours and sizes. None of them were poisonous, which I think is why everyone else was being so flippant about their presence.
No one actually seemed to WANT them in the house, it was more that they were more accepting of their presence. Even the people removing the snakes were handling them because they liked them but agreed they belonged outdoors. Closer to the end of the dream I encountered another woman downstairs (it was no longer my sister's house from the moment the snakes showed up, it was my grandmother's, and then no house I recognized) who was also trying to avoid the snakes and a bit distressed by everyone's calm acceptance and the presence of some anaconda-sized varities.
No one was bit or hurt (except a few kittens upstairs we were unable to save earlier on). However, it seemed for every snake removed, more found their way into this party/house. The party was one more like a family reunion than a dancing and kegging affair. Despite the familiar houses, I don't recognize anyone from the dream and the people removing the snakes were kinda faceless (but not obviously zomg they have no faces! sort of way).
I encountered someone's explanation that a dream of many snakes and varieties indicates a lot of unwanted things in your life you want to get rid of. That seems very likely. In writing this down, I think I also arrived at a question I had about the reaction of others and that it seemed to be a family get-together of sorts. About the only thing going right in my life right now is my very loving home and family. I count myself very blessed in that. Regardless, it is raining snakes all over us, unwanted things that are preventing us from...having cute little kittens?
I'm still not sure why so many of these unrecognized "family" were so nonchalant though...I can't imagine anyone wanting/accepting the things I want to get rid of. Crippling debt, poor health, things of that nature, we're definitely not talking about a one woman's trash is another's treasure sort of situation.
Perhaps it's just a /shrug debt, illness, unexpected expenses, etc. happen and they are just more accepting of their lot? I want something better for my family. I also didn't spend the whole dream avoiding snakes. I was fighting them upstairs to save the kittens. Even after I went downstairs I was both avoiding them and pulling/using items to pull them from climbing up the stairs where the kittens and children were.
Final note about the two recongized houses at the beginning of my dream. My sister has frequently had more than her fair share of cats simply because she and her husband have big hearts for homeless animals. As to it becoming my grandmother's house, this is where we usually got together for family get-togethers.
