Dreams can provide insight into our deepest thoughts. Using dream interpretation to explore dream symbols and uncover a dream's meaning can lead to a better understanding of ourselves.
| I have a reoccurring, nightmarish type dream . It's about my previous step mum (my dad is now on his 3rd marriage - the dream is about the 2nd - the wife in between his current one and my mum) She was my step mum from when I was 8 to 16 years old. She was quite possibly the love of my dad’s life, but was 14 years younger than him. She massively used him as child care and a financial aid, and left after giving him a 3 minute good bye speech out of the blue, while we were all still grieving from my granddads death 3 weeks before. This all happened 7 years ago in June. My dreams are always in different locations, last weeks were on a boat, and last nights was in a friend’s old family home. Each time I seem to be the only person who is aware that all is not right, and that my dad and Deborah (step mum) should not be back together. She hints at being aware of this too. I start each dream being very agitated and upset when I go home to find this scenario, and initially try to contact my current step mother, who always tells me she has moved away and given up hope on my dad and that it is for the best. I plead with her but get no where. My second reaction is to plead with my dad, remind him of his current wife and how happy they are and remind him how awful Deborah was, how hurt he was and that this is not the way things are supposed to be. This again heads no results. I then plead with one of Deborah's sons and my younger brother (both 3 years younger than me) who appear to not think anything is wrong at all, and also are younger than they are currently. I finally confront Deborah, by being abusive and shouting, almost as if I'm trying to scare her away. This doesn't work either, so I always resort to violence to get rid of her. I wake up feeling as if I haven't slept at all, sometimes tearstained or in a cold sweat. Although it doesn’t sound to nightmarish, within the dream I am in a blind panic and really bothered that Deborah is there, and when I wake up that angst seems to stay with me. Any help or interpretation so I can try to stop dreaming like this would be massively helpful! |
