Dreams can provide insight into our deepest thoughts. Using dream interpretation to explore dream symbols and uncover a dream's meaning can lead to a better understanding of ourselves.
Okay so, I've been having this dream since I was about 8 or 9 years old (I am 14 now).
It has changed a bit over the past few years. It used to go something like this:
I would be on the beach, and it would be a normal, sunny day. The waves would begin to come in really quickly, like the tides were sped up. My family would start grabbing our things to move back, but the water would come in really quickly. We'd run to the steps (to go up the dunes and away from the shore) but the steps would be gone, and it would be solid dunes. We'd climb up the side of the dunes, and the water would begin to rise. We wouldn't be able to get up the side of the dune, so we'd fall into the water. Usually, we'd all start getting sucked back and a giant wave would form in the distance. There are always 2 details I remember - there would be a man surfing the wave, and a mother with a small child being pulled into the wave. Soon, I would be sucked up into the wave (which was tsunami sized). Just as I reached the top, the wave would disappear, and I'd begin to fall into the water. I'd wake up as I was falling.
In the past few years, the dream has changed a bit. Now, it goes like this:
I am at my uncles beach front house. The house has a bunch of floors, and each floor has a deck (this is a real house that my family always stays at). It's the first day we get there, and what we're doing is sometimes different. Sometimes we're bringing our things in, other times we are talking to people (other characters in my dream). Usually, it's a nice day until it starts to get a little bit windy. Occasionally at this point, my family and I are on the beach, and we see the water start to come in very quickly. We run back to the house, and stand on either the first or second floor, and watch the water approach. It slowly makes its way over the dunes, rolling down the street, and rises on the house. It completely covers the first floor, and begins to rise on the second floor. Sometimes it does go over the second floor, but the walls hold (even if they shake) and there is a lot of pressure in the room. This dream doesn't usually have an ending, good or bad. I just start dreaming another dream, or this dream morphs into something else.
The past few times I've had this dream, it was very similar to the second version except, instead of the water coming in, rows and rows of large waves begin developing out in the water. A lot of them form until it finally starts approaching the house.
I've been having these dreams for years, and just thought it would be interesting if anyone had any ideas what they might mean.
