I've had these dreams since a child & although they've reduced, they still occur a couple of times a year. They occur in the morning. I dream that I'm awake & I believe I'm awake but then something in my dream tells me I'm still asleep because it doesn't represent true life. Today, for example, I thought I was awake (but was dreaming) because I was in my bedroom but when I looked at my duvet, it had a zip on it, my duvet doesn't. I then dreamt my youngest came in the room and I'm saying to her"pinch my hand to wake me up". She's pinching but I can't feel it. The 'dream' scenario constantly changes so I then think I'm really awake this time but something else will occur that shows me I'm still asleep. I'm constantly fighting to wake up properly but can't. Occasionally I actually do wake up but I have to fight to keep my eyes open and sometimes I can't, then it happens all over again. When I do eventually awake and keep my eyes open, I can't move for a few minutes, it's like I'm paralized. Afterwards when I get up, I'm exhausted and feel really 'heavy headed' with no energy. Sometimes it can take a couple of hours to properly wake up. This only happens if I don't set the alarm and only happens very occasionally. I find it very frightening when it happens like this morning but would love to know if there is an explanantion for it.....?

I have had the exact same drea. I actually had that tonight at like 2 am... I dreamt that i was in my normal room trying to open my eyes and even move but I couldnt. but I heard voices so I tried again, with all my force to open my eyes bt of course i wasnt able to. Then i feel off the bed but in slow motion. Its hard to explain. The 2nd time was the same but i started praying...i got scared because I felt i had no power and som1 was in the room... after a few of these dreams I found a way to wake up... When u feel powerless and u cannot wake up but u know ure awake but cant actually do it, DO NOT panick.. it makes it harder... relax ur body and mind and tell ursel this is only a dream. i will wake up soon... keep on saying that and force urself to wake up... its really hard though.
anyways i searched everywhere for an interpretation... all i found was that it means a abd energy has entered the room... it wants something you have .. so always pray before u sleep...or it means that it turns out, when you sleep, your brain secretes this chemical that basically tells your body to stop moving. It's what keeps you from thrashing around in your sleep. People who sleepwalk and talk in there sleep and stuff don't have enough of this chemical secretion. So basically, your waking up, but your brain kind of forgets to stop secreting this chemical.
Hope this helped you
