Cowardly Lion In A Play Of The Wizard Of Oz | Wearing Costume Dream Interpretations
Dreams can provide insight into our deepest thoughts. Using dream interpretation to explore dream symbols and uncover a dream's meaning can lead to a better understanding of ourselves.
This was a long strange dream . It started when I realized I was in a play of the Wizard of Oz and playing the part of the cowardly lion. First thing I recall is walking through a huge empty room full of desks to enter where we would be made up for the play. Each character randomly went up to a make-up artist--and suddenly we were on on a grassy lawn--the make-up artist I went up to and asked if it was okay to be there consented--a man and women in their 30's--they seemed to be making posters & it seemed like the 1960s.
Next I recall thinking that I didn't know my lines and couldn't recall rehearsing--but the performance was that night. The head on the lion costume seemed HUGE and was heavy & awkward to wear. I couldn't really see thorugh the eye holes. I frequently removed it as I made my way around back stage. At one point I was trying to find the stage and walked out an exit into a hallway where there were audience members arriving all dressed up.
I quickly retreated backstage to an area where there were a couple other members of the play signing in on a list supervised by a little old lady in a sort of brown "pilgrem's hat"--I thought I should be wearing a hat like that under the lion's head of the costume. She reminded me of Mother Goose!! Again, while signing in, I was thinking about not knowing the lines, and hoping it would all come back to me when I got onstage.
Later, after the play started I was somewhere outside the building, visiting with people in a nightclub & "waiting" to go onstage. I wasn't certain when I was to go on. I would peek at the stage. Suddenly I heard music that supposedly pertained to the good witch and realized I was actually late for my part--someone else had split their cat costume in two in order to fill my role. I shadowed that half-cat and performed in unison with that actor (who was flailing and struggling). The dream faded out as I was performing as the lion--I don't recall acutually speaking any dialogue.
That's it!! This is one of the oddest dreams I have ever had. I have never worn any such costume nor been in a play. Typically my dreams kind of follow a typical pattern or recurring theme. Nothing like this has ever been in my dreams.
Everything in a dream represents a part of the dreamer.
This dream suggests that you are getting in touch with that part of yourself that is aware of the Self behind the role you/we play and the masks you/we wear.
Consider each character in the dream; and how that may describe a part of yourself.
Awesome dream!
