By scuzzi A Trip Through A Mechanical Restaurant (Weird Restaurant Dream) I was hungry, so I walked around looking for a restaurant. At first I walked down the sidewalk next to where I parked the car, and then I turned left and walked two short blocks until I found two restaurants that were across the street from each other. One was an upscale California-style rib joint, and the other, across the street, was a restaurant that looked like it was a las vegas steakhouse crossed with late 50's style mechanical futurism. It was two stories tall, and had a large moving neon sign of a man with a pole tenderizing steaks. Walking past the outdoor seating of the Cali rib joint, I nabbed a rib off of someone's plate, to see if they were to my liking, but I couldn't resist the kitschy appeal of the two story steakhouse. Inside it was a mechanical world of whirring assembly lines and stainless steel. I took my place in one of three lanes, and watched as the man ahead of me stepped onto a conveyor belt and whizzed off to areas unknown. Next it was my turn. They asked what type of steak I wanted, (I chose a ribeye,) and soon I was being whisked upstairs, where I stopped at several stations where I was asked what I wanted with or on my steak, as my meal was assembled alongside me. At one station, there were hundreds of spices, some hanging from the ceiling by their stalks. After a few more stops, I took a metal escalator down to the first floor. Here we were reunited with our shoes, which apparently we had taken off before starting the meal-gathering process. But only one of my shoes was there! There was some confusion as a helpful employee looked for my other shoe, and then I awoke before I could enjoy my steak dinner.
