(from my dream journal)...

'I had a dream last night that spanded 50 years ~ half a lifetime! It went from the 1940s to the 1990's. And all of that in-between. In the 1940's, it was a late summer, quite near to the first days of autumn, and I believe I was in upstate new york. it was rural countryside, very pretty. I believe I was in an old-fashioned motor car, someone was driving and I was in the back seat, merely a passenger. I was okay with this though, mind you. We drove past this colonial-pooking white house on a slight hill, right by the road. I could see inside, and it was an old-fashioned farm house. There were some farmers outside of the house in the surrounding land~ with farming-hoes, rakes, and other farming ploughs as well, but man-driven, not horse-driven. That's all I remember of the 40's.

In the 1950's, I visited what had been my mum's childhood home in sayville. But, I don't reckon it was really in sayville, and I know for certain mum's childhood home was way different from mum's real-life childhood home. Only similarity was that both houses were white~ purity and innocence of mum's childhood, perhaps? The house in the dream was much larger and Dickie (my mum's dad, his real name was richard) was a very ambitious and adventurous father. He, mamie (my mum's mum), and mum and I were driving in an old-fashioned black 50's station-wagon car. Dickie was driving. Dickie and maie were younger, like in their 30's, i'd say. But mom was the age that she is now (51), maybe slightly younger but hardly. Anyways, we were in a car. Not a convertible like the only I was in in the 40's. Dickie was talking about building a treehouse/fort and I climbed to practically the top of this very, very old tall tree. The branches were not as stable up there, but I managed even though I fell a few limbs and leafy branches down. Dickie had all these plans.

In the 60's, it was dark at the side, near a river and the woods. It was kind of a cloudy night, close to autumn. I was with a group of people, we wore dark travelling cloaks and/or wool fuzzies. We could see the mountains from beyond the trees, in the darkening distance. There was some murmuring and I just remember that feeling of being in a pack. And being with my own kind.
The scene changed to this messy city-borough street at night-time. There were some closed, druggy-looking shops, cigar shops...etc. It was a very grungy 60's/70's street at nighttime. Once I made it through one street, there was a big thing of "buildings" but they were actually these sky-scraper-sized crates in the dark city. These large crates were all in a grid-pattern. I remember some of them had big pillows in them and some not. I climbed to the tops of them. and also sometimes, I flew straight to the top.
