what an interesting group - so random! I like sitting Indian style ... though now what I think about it, isn't it kind of a racist remark?  Anyway, I like sitting cross-legged, EXCEPT when it's on a hard surface when my ankle bone would dig into the ground - ouch.  I...

    Always Indian Style

I love sitting "Indian Style" (if you will) anywhere I am. I always thought this was a bit odd because no other friends or colleagues my age sit in a booth- kick off their shoes and sit cross legged. However - I just found out that my great grandmother was 50% Cherokee Indian...

Is that just cross-legged? Like, sitting with your legs crossed? I do that all the time. even on a chair, i dont have my feet on the ground or cross my knees, i have my feet up on the chair and my legs crossed.

I never stopped to think of how bizarre "Indian style" is as a sitting pose. It seems so natural. Who doesn't sit like this?

I always do this. Some of my best friends

called me "Indy" in high school - that was over 20 years ago. Today, I'm still not comfortable sitting any other way but it seems to be taking more and more of a toll on my knees which are starting to really hurt quite a bit. I don't know for sure that it's related but it feels...

I'm a guy who likes to sit this way,

not just on the floor but on a chair or the sofa as well. It's a habit that I've had since I was in elementary school. I used to sit at my desk like that and continued all through High School until the present. I know it might seem weird for a guy to sit Indian style in a chair...

I have south asian heritage. So this is not uncommon for the family. I have always found it comfortable from childhood days to sit in front of the TV and glare at the screen with my siblings. I imagine it is because of the environment that I grew up in that makes me just sit on...

I Teach At A Primary School...

Since i teach 7, and 8 year olds, i tend to sit on the floor a lot, with them!! Some of the other teachers who also teach the grade 7's and 8's prefer sitting on a chair when reading to them, but i like sitting the floor right next to them. I don't know why, but its just way more...

Why Is It So Hard To Stop!

I don't mean to make it sound like it's a drug, but even when I remind myself not to sit that way I still do. Heck yeah I'm sitting like that now. My bad knee will probably protest it later, but oh well.

Didn't Know It's Called 'indian Style'

I am from india and no one here finds this sitting posture bizzare. In India it is called 'pallathi'. I personally find it really comforting and sit like this whenever I am doing some task that requires deep thinking. Although my sister finds it funny that I even sit on chairs...

and I finally find you awesome people! Here's the thing ... OW! My hips are killing me and the ankles aren't much better. I sit like this all day long. As in all day. I sometimes also sleep like this but lying down. I think it's called easy pose (sukhasana) in yoga. I was...

Do I Have To Be Indian?

Yeah I always sit like this, even when I'm sitting on a chair. Even at the office when no one is around and this damn pain in my back starts, I sit like this, more comfortable, who will turn around me and see how I'm sitting anyway?!  I grab my chair close to the desk so anyone...

I always sit Indian style, usually. Other than when I'm sitting at the computer because the chair isn't big enough to do so. If I'm sitting on the couch, the bed, the floor or anything else, I am always sitting Indian style. I have sit this way since I was a teenager, and it's...

    I Sit Like This Everywhere

I'm sitting this way now, and probably will later. I sit like this in nice restaurants in the booths, and if I'm riding in a car somewhere. I can't help it. I think it was because it was drilled into my head back in elementary. " Cross your legs and put your hands in your...

    Even At The Office

Yes. I'll take my heels off and sit like an Indian (that's what we were taught to call it in grade school) or one leg under. And it helps me be more comfortable in my office chair! It does seem so improper though because your shoes are off at the workplace, but I can't help it.
