We Had Fun Outside Till Dark, Not Playdates

I grew up watching the best cartoons. Remember the Beatles cartoon? Trippy and psychedelic tv shows like HR Pufnstuf, New Zoo Review, Sigmund the Seamonster? Riding your banana seat 3-speed bike around the neighborhood to call for your friends? Catching fireflies? I had great fun...

    It Was Okay

there was quite a lot of good music, some really horrible music. Ronney was president and girls had big hair. There was Star Wars (both real and sci-fi) MTV and Max Headroom. VH1 was cool. Break dancing and exploding space shuttles with school teachers spread across half the...

Hot summers. Well. 76 was hot.

Sat in the back of my parents' Vauxhall Viva- in shorts- legs burning to a frazzle on the vinyl seats. Outside a pub. For hours. Furnished with the occasional bottled coke (waxed paper straw, natch) and packet of Golden Wonder... ...and then being driven home, erratically, in...

    Good Times ...

I turned 20 in the autumn of 1989, so that means I was a kid for the entire '70s and all my teenage years were in the '80s.  I remember the '80s better than the '70s, needless to say, but I'm glad I was there for both decades all the same.

I remember staying up watching tv

until midnight, then, the national anthem would play, and then - shhhhhhh (TV snow/white noise until morning). It was so great when MTV first allowed us to watch videos into the wee hours of the morning!
