First of all...Wishing everyone a great start

in the year 2014! So...yeah...I realize that I really love what I do...and I do not regret becoming a doctor. Things are getting better step by step, each day I am learning something new especially, from the old doctors that are glad when I ask them questions... And then there...

    I Can't Treat Everybody!

It never fails during any introductions when someone finds out you are a medical doctor, questions come up about what do I do when... I have been to a restaurant and my waitress will find out I practice and begin to tell me about her medication or ask about a pain or cough she...

On the Stupidity of Asking Prisoners About Their Tattoos. Don't Do It People!

Some of the population I work with are prisoners and juvenile hall residents.  I don't want to know why they are in jail - why they shuffle into my exam room with handcuffs around their wrists and ankles. One of my patients was a seventeen-year-old kid.  I...

As I stuffed the little toddler's nose full of gauze infused with cocaine, I wondered if the attending on the case ever mentioned this part of the surgery to the parents.  Not that I think he should have, exactly, since we don't get into the details of surgeries (unless...

    I Am A Doctor But

I'm not your doctor. It is amazing how many people just start taking off their clothes and telling me what is wrong with them.  I was at dinner with a companion when another restaurant patron inquired with the maitre 'd about me.  I usually wear something that is striking when...

Of course it's a major achievement to get your

medical degree and everything, but it really ticks me off to see some colleagues and seniors who think they're a superhuman species just because they're doctors. I never introduce myself as a doctor unless it's a professional setting, where everyone is expected to put forward...

My First Round As An Intern

So I started to work on Thursday the 15th at a depratment of internal medicine. My experience so far? It is tough...no one has ever prepared us for this organized chaos at the hospital. First days they help you with anything you ask...the second day? "You should already know...

Day 5 at work : Life of a house officer at O &

It's rare for me to have three holidays straight as we have 24 duty in every three days. So it's kinda important to think how should I spend my days off wisely! And here's final decision; time to die in front of tv by watching "Friends" series marathon! Oh here's the snacks...
