I Am a Girl and Like Power Tools a Group For Women Only

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 79 People

    I’m really unclear

as to why this has to be a group for women only. Are we pretending now that men never use power tools or are we just afraid to stand beside them and show that we can? The group name kind of feels like a rampant feminist bent gone wrong here. I use power tools and know how to...

    Tools Are Fun!

I have to admit, I love power tools too. I have been working in my shop for at least 5 years now. I love tools. I love building things. I love fixing things. The other day, I fixed my tub. The cocking around the tub needed to be changed. Though it was an easy job, my...

    Roll Reversal

It's funny, my husband takes better care of the kids while I landscape and renovate the house. I love getting my hands dirty! I almost always have a great sense of accomplishment when I finish a project :)

Although I generally like anything shiny that I can do stuff with. All gadgets and stuff. And I love making stuff. I'm too impatient to buy things so I make stuff like book cases myself. When I was 4 I made a swing set for my teddy bears. It all worked brilliantly. I was dead...

    Woodshop, Baby

Yes, I can work a circular saw and a drill press, planer, etc...I prefer not to use the saw, actually, but a power drill is a girl's best friend. ;)

    Femme Fatale In A Toolbelt

Yes..I am a feminine gal who loves my heels and lace but I also can " strap on" my toolbelt and build a bookcase or wire a ceiling fan. Did I grow up with a great dad or big brother who nurtured my constant thirst for knowledge? Hell no. But as a lover of butch gals, I have...

With the new laminate floor in my moms house,

I needed to rip 3/8" off the bottom of the pantry doors. They are slatted and not heavy. The first section has double doors and the second section has a regular size door. There is a table saw in the garage that I've used to build a room divider in my moms sun room. Cutting 1x2...

    They Make Things Easy....

My Dad made sure I knew how to use tools -- power tools and manual ones.  There is no reason in the world for women not to know how to hammer a nail, drill a hole or saw a log!  And power tools just make the jobs so totally much easier!  And the tools these days...

    Love My Power Tools

I had parents who taught me that I could do anything I wanted to.So, I decided I wanted to buy an old farmhouse ( a handyman special!) and lovingly restore it. And I did. This began my love affair with power tools. Various saws, routers, miter saws ( although I began the...

    Not Just Power Tools

any tools, really.  It is so nice to be able to fix things yourself because you have the right tools for the job.  I would be lost without my tools.  I hate being the 'helpless female' who has to wait for her husband to come home and fix things for her.  One...

    Husband Keeps Borrowing Them!

When I was a kid my father felt it was important that I learn how to do everything that I would need to be totally self-sufficient.  I am glad he did because I really enjoy working with tools and I am darn good at it. My husband, on the other hand, is not so great with them and...

    My Dad Is a Carpenter

So I grew up with tools and such being pretty familiar. I had been dreaming about remodeling my own place since I left home. Of course, during the apartment years there's not much you can do. Although I did a heck of a patch job when we tore up a wall trying to fit our giant...
