Helen Keller said..."When one door of happiness closes, another one opens, but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one that has been opened to us."

I love this quote.  And can think of several instances in my life to which it speaks.  one in particular--I won't go into the particulars but about 20 years ago I was devastated by the ending of a relationship and sunk deep into a funk of depression.  All I could think was that it was over and I was alone.  I wallowed in my depression--I think I even began to enjoy it in some perverse way.  To take my mind off it, my Mom and I planned a vacation--just the two of us!  Something we had never done before.  We drove to Williamsburg, Virginia and spent three days going through the historic areas then drove to Orlando to visit a friend and see Disney world for four days. After that we drove to Nashville,  Tennessee and saw the sights there.  We had a wonderful time and were able to deepen our relationship.  I think that we both learned some things about each other that trip.  After I got back I had a new attitude.  I decided that I didn't need a man in my life--that I had family and friends, a job that I loved and could easily be happy without a relationship.  Not long after that I met my husband to be when I wasn't even looking for someone!

I learned that:

1)  All endings are also beginnings.  We're just not able to see them at the time.

2)  Often when you stop looking for something it will finally come to you.

So---what are your thoughts on this?  Do you have a similar or related story to tell?

Great story Syndala...

Often we do need to step back or (step out of a situation) to see clearly.... to think clearly.

Amazing how those things work!

Love and light to you~
