RavenAllen wrote on 10:24PM at Aug 11th, 2011 I know nothing about what it's going to be like. I do, but it's just silly stuff I've heard. Next year, July 19th my boyfriend will be shipping off to boot-camp and later on he'll be going to Charleston for Nuke School. He says he cant rent me an apartment near there but is it even possible to see him? I've heard terrible things about the Navy, Cheating wise, and a lot other things, So I've been too scared too look anything up about being a Navy girlfriend. Not that I'm scared he'll cheat on me, It's just something I really do not want to see. So, I figured: Why not ask Navy girlfriends/fiances/wives themselves? :D So, please, ladies, Tell me your stories?

Hisprincess2009 wrote on 01:30PM at Oct 23rd, 2011 I agree with what Heidi said, being a Navy GF is wondeful! I love my sailor! He's currently stationed across the country from me, so the time differences make communicating on a daily basis hard, but we do our best to make the time. He'll call or text me on his way to or from work even if he only has a few seconds just to say hi. That means the world to me. It is great to be talking to him when he's with his buddies and they start ragging him about talking on the phone and to hear him say something about talking to 'his girl' and they just need to 'hesh' (translation, shut up). It is definitely hard at first. Boot camp is a tough time especially if you talk to him many times a day everyday, before he leaves, then you go to not talking at all while he's in boot. But as Heidi mentioned after boot camp he'll be able to have his phone and computer again and that helps a lot. Yes, the rumors are terrible. I hear them all the time and have so many people who look at me like I'm crazy to even be dating a Navy man, BECAUSE OF the rumors. But I know my sailor loves me and I trust him being so far away. There are some times where we don't get to talk for a day or two and people around me start trying to put little doubts into my head by telling me the rumors again, but those all go away when he finally calls and I hear in his voice just how much he's missed me and can just tell that he's been wanting to hear my voice, just as badly as I've wanted to hear his. Don't worry too much about it. If you start worrying now, it'll just make things harder in the long run. If you have any questions or just need to talk, I'm here. ~ Sarah

molaura19 wrote on 01:22AM at Oct 28th, 2011 RavenAllen, My boyfriend is actually in the nuke program at charleston, as well. When it comes to faith, you simply have to just have trust in each other. Otherwise, a long distance relationship like this will probably not work out. My boyfriend left for bootcamp in may of this year. He will be graduating A school on the 10th of november. Its so hard, especially lately. Sometimes I want to just go insane...I miss him so much. You obviously won't be able to see him while he's in basic, I know you've already figured that out. When he gets to Charleston, however, it will be easier to visit him. But for a while it will be restricted to weekends until about midnight, when he has to return to his ba

blueblanket wrote on 10:53PM at Nov 5th, 2011 Trust and communication! I felt the same way you did and sometimes I second guess myself even though I have faith in my boyfriend. He's been in the Navy for 2 years now and we haven't had any doubts. Don't worry about visiting him so soon cause he hasn't even left yet. Focus on supporting him and being there for him every step of the way and you'll be fine.

tyrkeybyrd99 wrote on 09:24PM at Jul 9th, 2012 So this post is in response to the first post, which is almost a year old, but I'm in the identical boat, actually Im not very informed on the navy rumors, but I think those go with dating any military man. My boyfriend left for basic today. He's my best friend from college and we've been dating for a year and a half but right before he left I could totally feel him pulling away a little. The ONLY thing he really fears is the unknown and lets face it, the military is one giant puddle of unknown. Today went more smoothly than I expected, Im in gad school and have a week left of my second summer class to further distract me but I figured I should really look into a navy gf chat site to get further support from other ladies like myself. I could definitely use any reassurance anyone is willing to type. I know I don't really need it, I just miss him already. Hes a fantastic boyfriend, I'm his first real girlfriend so I'm excited for some of the maturity (future oriented) that the military should bring. I cant wait till I can actually get his first letter....I wrote my first one within 6 hours of him leaving :( --struggling--

jspence1213 wrote on 09:49PM at Jul 16th, 2012 My boyfriend leaves tomorrow morning, and I'm a mess already. We've been together a little over a year and a half too, and I don't know anyone else that's going through this near me. How've you been holding up?
