I Am a Preschool Teacher

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 70 People

one of the scariest moments in my life was

when I realized there were so many teachers working with children who actually didn't like children. there's a lot of people who simply come to work for a paycheck and tolerate the children from payday to payday, sometimes investing up to four or five decades of their lives...

I love little kids but they are a handful.

I work three times a week and go to school twice a week. I'm majoring in Early Childhood with special needs. It's a lot of work but it's worth it. :-)

    Bits of Love

One of my favorite things about teaching my four year olds and kindergarten students is coming home with the "bits of love" little drawings and treasures. My little ones are precious and sometimes frustrating, but I love them.

    Respect From Others?

Hello I'm a preschool teacher but I have background in art education, masters degree . I thought being a preschool teacher at a daycare would be a good stepping stone for me to get an art teaching job in the future. After mentioning my early childhood experience in an interview...

I seriously think some of these toys would be

great for work.. don't limit your child's playing - limit their space with a cage.  Trouble feeding your kids?  Why not just stick them in a high chair that has hand and foot restraints?  Make your own poo mould would go nicely with all the other playdough cutters...

    Just Introducing Myself!!

Hi all!! I teach 3 year olds at an Early Childhood Center.  I really love my job and initially I wanted to teach elementary but since I've had this job, I don't think I would want to anymore.  The kids are great, sweet, yet very challenging!! Teachers do have a...

Office Of School Readiness Preschool Program In Alabama

I work in a preschool that offers an Office of School Readiness preschool program. It's state funded and the students are charged fees based on their incomes.  It's something like Head Start.  The program has a huge flaw; the bullying and teasing in the classroom is not managed...

    So Happy :D

I found out last Friday that the Principal had gotten a grant for four years for a preschool program. They will only need one teacher and one assistant. I've let it be known that I am very interested in the assistant position and they told me to keep my eyes open for when it is...

    Preschool Is Fun!

Right now I'm a student of education, and I'm working part time. Both of my part time jobs are with preschoolers. I work in a 3 year old classroom in a day care as an assistant teacher. I also work as a gymnastics instructor for 3-5 year olds. These are such wonderful ages to...

If I was to die tonight,

I just want to remind the people in my life I'm going to die very happy with what I was doing for a living. Unlike a lot of people in the world I may not be rolling in money but I have committed to work that I feel incredibly privileged to be apart of. I don't doubt even for a...

about 12 or 13 years ago

when I first started out working in the preschool setting one of the mistakes I regret making was bringing what was happening outside in my life into the classroom at one time. We often hear that regardless of what's going on in our personal lives we should never bring it...

    Not Quite Yet...

I'm a student in preschool education. Third year. Last year we went to preschool classes and observed for one semester. This year we actually "teach". I don't think I'm doing very well. I would like to say that the conditions prohibit a better performance, but I don't think that...

    Some Thoughts ..

I teach 4-year-olds at a private nursery.  It is really difficult and really rewarding.  Knowing that these kids are at such a tender age ... when a traumatic experience can turn into a life-long issue.... makes me a bit anxious about really messing up a child.  At...
