    Ok, so bitterly cold weather

and snow set in to my little part of the world last Thursday. Last night the temps dropped to -10 C (14 F) with a howling wind. I bummed around the house as much as I could, trying to convince myself it was smarter to stay in by the fire (right, C?). Anyways, just over an hour...

I was running with my team mate today,

who was struggling with the pace. He told me through heavy breaths that i probably run faster during summer practices on the trail than i do in actual races. I laughed. "You know how everyone says to relax and go to your happy place?" I asked him. "Yeah?" He huffed. "Well, when...

Running gives me a sense of freedom.

It's a very powerful thing... I would love to be fit, so I could run fast for a lot longer, and feel the wind tugging at my hair and clothes. I can't describe the beauty of running. I just love it.

    Still Working On It

I began running several years ago by accident. I was training myself for a local race and planned on walking it. It's a 7 mile race and actually known for drawing people from all over the world and considered the biggest non-marathon race in the Midwest. During one of my walks...

    Midnight Runner

I run at night. Originally this started because I was training in secret; I’d never run before, and didn’t want anyone to know what was going on if I quit. The program I did, called “Couch to 5k”, makes it clear right on their website that a high proportion of beginners...

popular trail. Generally I shun people, especially during my run, but I didn't really have a choice given the distance I wanted to do. Inspired by my Brit friend, here's some things that drive me crazy: 1) Cyclists that blow by you with just inches to spare when they pass you...

My brothers and I were raised to be athletes.

It's important to being able to run long distances, map points referenced. My parents would take us orienteering in the wilds above Stavanger. I do run still, mainly at the gym, but I do do roadwork sometimes, just go out for a run.
