I Am a Struggling Musician

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 27 People

I thought perhaps I should get into music.

I love it so, yet i've known so little about it. I bought logic, I put the money I had into my effort to try. I did a little.. never got a deal, never got any money on it. And now I'm selling my gear. I did one last song. I'll always write songs in my head at least, and...

I have been writing and recording

since I was 14 (I'm 44). I have been in a punk band, a goth band, worked in electronic music. Nowadays, I prefer the acoustic stuff. I have terrible stage fright, so I don't perform live much. But I am always recording and writing new stuff. It's never made me rich, but it has...

    If Only

A lot of people don't have the time for pursuing a musical career, due to the steep climb that it always begins with. I am not preoccupied by anything but a job. I have finished school, have no family that depends on me, and haven't had the fortune of meeting a person I love. I...

Its so hard to get out there

and still stay true to yourself. It is awful when you have to make compromise with the thing that you love which is music because you have to make a living,

Everybody asks you what you want to be

when you grow up...when you are little. Then its 12 years of school, 4 years of college and suddenly you hear a voice: "Leave your dreams for your pillow. We don't care what you want to do. Its about what we need to be done. And you will work for us if you want to live". Great...

    Www.thisflighttonight.com - Struggling Musician

I came to London with big ideas only to be proven completely wrong. As I try and become a full time musician, I try and find jobs but can't find anything. I feel employers mistreat employees so often I feel put off looking in the first place. The UK job market bites. Too bad...

Performing and listening to music are the two

things I love most and they make me so happy. But I’m afraid they’re slowly being taken away from me... Lately it's been harder to hear and there's nothing in my ears... How am I supposed to handle losing what I love most?

    Not Enough Time

It would take forever to write my story. Especially considering that I tend to make any short story long. But my music is out there for people to hear, and I hope you'll have a listen. I'll revisit the potentially enormous task of writing my story later.... -Lee www...
