    My Idol

I can't express how I feel about Tom Waits.  My favorite album is "Orphans".  I've loved him for more than 20 years.  That's him in my avatar, although I'm really a chick.  God bless 'im.

"The Fall of Troy" is my favorite from him.

It's the first Tom Waits song I heard and it has stuck with me ever since.

    I First Saw Tom Waits...

I first saw Tom Waits perform as an opening act for Maria Muldaur around 1975 or76. I think he was touring the Small Change album. He had a three piece band, might have had a sax...The band played an intro and young Tom strut on stage with a beat up suitcase like he was just off...

Without Him There Would Be Less to the World

I couldn't live without this music. and especially the lyrics. I first heard Tom Waits about 7 years ago. I was 21, in college. It wasn't an instant love but it snowballed. within a few months i was hooked. I've spent the last two years living out a suitcase, alone...

    The Heart Of Saturday Night

We do crazy things when we're wounded; Everyone's a bit insane. But I don't want you catching your death of cold out walking in the rain. -"Please Call Me, Baby"

"Hold On" is great as well.

I love the imagery Tom creates with his lyrics and music.

A Soldier's Things Was My First Tom Waits Encounter.

My sister sent me a message about this song that was GREAT, and i found it at the library, listened, and immediately worked out the lyrics.  found them later on the web and corrected a word or two.  it is wonderful. his range of music is amazing, grungy down and...
