I Am Against Cat Declawing

cat declawing is an inhumane surgery that permanently removes the claws and their connected bones away from the cat. It is painful and handicapping. 1,086 People

I have 5 cats, none are declawed,

they are indoor/outdoor, to me it is a cruelty.

    Title Here...

When I was seven-ish, I cried because my parents had our cat declawed. Over a decade later, I still agree with my seven year old self. It's cruel to declaw cats.

there are alternatives to cat declawing.

Theres a site you can get little covers for your kitty's claws. it doesn't hurt them and fixes the problems people use declawing for.

    Couldn't Watch

A friend of mine had her cat declawed and I have never seen such a sad, shocked, outraged kitty in my life. She cried for WEEKS. I'm amazed Vets do this to cats. Most people do this to save their furniture. I just believe it you decide to have cats, buy furniture that is not...

    I Learned The Hard Way

I received a Siamese cat as a gift once and unfortunately she was de-clawed when I received her. She was an indoor cat- had never even been outside- but one day a guest who didn't know any better let her out of the house. We looked everywhere for her and finally found her...

Declawing is not only a painful experience,

but because they can't defend themselves with claws, it increases their likelihood of biting when frightened/scared.

    Cats Should Have Claws

When you think of cats.. one of the things you think of is they scratch. What is a cat without its claws? Don't even bother getting one if all you're going to do it declaw it, that's so cruel. And you say, "Well I have small children." Or "What about my furniture?" Simple answer...

When you take away a cat's claws you take away

its means of survival. Sure it might seem reasonable if the cat is locked away inside, but what happens when it gets out? If the cat has no access to human food or cat food laid out for it it would have to hunt. It can't without its claws and would starve to death. You wouldn't...

Never Have Declawed Any Of My Cats

I have never had this procedure done on any of the cats I've owned.  To me, it was logical that it would leave them defenseless and I would never want to do that.  The way I looked at it is if I didn't want them to claw the furniture, I'd spray a repellant on the...

Who the **** are you to take your cats defenses

away from it? Unless it is strictly a house cat you have no reason to declaw it. "Oh well it scratches the furniture when its inside boo hoo hoo" buy a damn scratching post. If you can afford to declaw your cat you can afford a scratching post.

I hate it so much. My friend has a cat

who a few days ago got taken by the vet that lives across from them. The vet declawed the cat. It is an outdoor cat and now has no way to protect itself. It's such a horrible thing. Just think about it this way, it's the equivalent to someone ripping your fingernails out.

    We never de-claw our cats,

however we rescued a kitten that was born with a bone growth disease in his front paws and had to get his claws removed from the front when he was a year old. It was so sad but if we didn't his claws would of grew the wrong way and could of possibly immobilized him.

    Sometimes It'S Tempting.

Sometimes a declawed cat sounds like it'd be a healthier situation for me at least. I can't tell you how many scars, scratches and cuts my body has endured. Particularly with my newest addition. Pretty much whenever I'm sleeping he is either climbing my face or drooling on my...

I think declawing cats should be illegal.

It's cruel. That's how they fight and protect themselves. And it's extremely painful for them. Imagine cutting off your fingers at the first knuckle behind your nail. That's what declaring is. And people do this regularly. I've never declawed ant cat I've ever owned and I...

There are many bad things about cat declawing

and I am totally against this sort of abuse. Cats and humans have hand/paw characteristics that are very alike- three joints. Our last joint, with the fingernail that grows out of the skin, is slightly different from the cat. The cat's "nail" actually grows straight out of bone...

A long time ago, we used to take care of cats that were strays and probably dumped where we lived. There was this one that was grey and was nervous at first. She was declawed in the front, so she couldn't defend herself. Instead, she would bite if she needed to do so, so I ended...

cat declawing is so cruel and completely unnatural. scratching is part of a cat's' natural instincts. how would humans like to be de-fingernailed? sound like fun? my cousin had both of her cats declawed so they wouldn't ruin her precious furniture, and she thinks the whole...
